I have a 85 4runner that i wanna swap my 94 v6 rear third with 4:88 and a detroit locker. Will this work? I wanna put it in the rear. I was told it wouldn't fit but i have read stuff otherwise...

It will work just fine.

Bolt it up and be done with it.

Companion flange bolt pattern may not be the same, but you can swap flanges and go.

It might have a speed sensor for anti-lock brakes. Just leave the sensor in or plug it with a compression plug. Make sure the front gearing matches the rear. Flange will be the same.

thanks, don't know of anybody with a locked 4:88 for the front do ya:)

There are at least two 4.88 V-6 diffs on ebay right now. Both are just open diffs but are factory 4.88's.

FYI the factory 4.88 diff housing is a one off, and will only work with stock Toyota 4.88 gear sets. If you want to trade gear ratios in the future, you'll be buying new diffs again.... So if you think you'll want to regear later, you may want to find a front diff that's been regeared to 4.88 and not a stock one...

The stock 4.88 diffs will fit any axle front or rear 79-85, and all rear axles 86-95.
