GM transmissions that I know of have their control on the left side, not the right side.

Why wouldn't you keep the stock Toyota shifter in the stock location? It doesn't have to be moved at all.

Trailblazer SS transmission cable plus so minor modification of the toyota shifter arm = perfect.
Ok it must have been the 6L80 that was on the right, nvm then

I am using a 6L90, which is a slightly beefier version of the 6L80. Their controls are on the left side of their cases.

The issue is that the Toyota shifter is on the opposite side, right side. One must connect the Toyota Transmission shifter that has its controls on the right side, to the transmission control lever, which is on the left side. For the 6L80/90, someone in Aus makes a hardware linkage kit now.

Makes sense, I guess I had it backwards. Hopefully that kit will be available this summer!

Does swapping an old V8 for a new V8 count??

Fresh LSX 376 to replace the tired L92.

Installed yesterday, and test fired for the first time with no issues. Initial break-in this evening hopefully.

My goal is to get 15 mpg or more, from what I understand that gets a lot harder with the 6.0.

I'll probably end up with a complete parts truck with an LM7, but I gotta say the L33 making more power, better fuel efficiency, and being 70 lbs lighter is tempting.
I had a lm7 but I was at higher elevation too. Afaik the only thing that makes the l33 more powerful/efficient is the compression ratio. You will probably get right around 15mpg. A lot of it depends on the tune.

Oh nvm it looks like you have no fender flares and probably 37s with no spacers
The wheels are a 17x7.5 +15 offset with 35/12.5/17's.

Thanks!

Get the transmission rebuilt before the install. Especially if it’s a 4l60e. You can swap out the output shaft to a 2wd during the rebuild if necessary to work with the Mark’s adaptor.

That probably would run me a few thousand right? What's wrong with taking a tranny with 100ish k on it, replacing input and output seals and slapping that in? i'd probably hold up for 100-200k miles and I could always rebuild later...
I had an s10 with a 4L60e and didnt really like how it shifted and it would slip sometimes at 140k miles. Would I be better off with a 4L60e or a 6L80? I would like to have 6 gears i just don't know difficult to get it to work with the ecu

4l60e’s are not the most durable transmission out there. There are issues with broken sun shells, worn out planetary gear bushings, early failure with the 3-4 clutch packs etc. They can be rebuilt with aftermarket parts to address these problems or just built with stock components that are probably good for another 100k miles or more depending how you drive. It’s your call if you want to roll the dice.

Just want to clarify my last post, I don’t want to discourage you or try to tell you what to do, I’m just voicing my opinion based on my research and experience doing these swaps. The cost of rebuild should be around a grand, depending on what the builder finds inside. Being proactive could save you a lot of headaches and frustration down the road, especially since this is your first try at this. Btw, you can’t compare a S10 vs an LS motor in regards to transmission longevity. I know nothing about 6l80e trannys. Cheers!😉

Well my only point is that the s10 has the same transmission, but a lighter truck and less horsepower. So makes me think that the tranny would struggle longevity wise with a heavier vehicle and a lot more torque.
Yessir I appreciate your opinion, I've new to this and just sorting through information to try to figure out what is best for me.

Most of the time I get high 13 low 14 mpg with a built 6.0 and 6L80 trans. Can get better if we tune it for premium fuel. Highly recommend 6 speed transmission

Nvm I see it's an L96. Did you physically delete AFM DOD VVT?
L96 doesn't have AFM/DOD but does have VVT. The latter is fine to keep. I chose the L96 because a lack of AFM/DOD.

The GM 6 speeds are garbage. If one hasn’t failed it’s because it’s just about to fail. I will admit a big part of them sucking is because of the way DoD works.

4l60s are fine. There are millions and millions of them out there being abused. With very basic mods (that don’t require rebuild) and a decent cooler they hold up fine. Don’t tow with it in overdrive.

What I’m getting at is I would not put a used 6speed in anything.

fair. most likely I will end up 4L60e just because it's the first time I've done anything like this... and I want to minimize the complexity as much as I can
