Does this help? My cell camera does not go wide enough. Let me get the wife's camera out in a few days.

Is it possible to get a shot of the clearance between the front of the oil pan and the tubular frame crossmember, as well as clearance to the axle?
And you are running an F-body pan, correct?

I will get some pics for you. I am running the Mark's 4WD MFC20710 modified LS Sump & Pick up.

LS V8 Rear Bowl Engine Sump & Pick-up (Modified)

*** I didn't have a PM from you.

I appreciate the little bit extra capacity that probably has over the F-body pan but holy smokes that's expensive.

They are not cheap but Mark's modifies the pan so there are no clearance issues. I found this to be the best option for my build but it may not be for everyone.

to get over the capacity im going to be running a bigger oil cooler with my remote filter kit

A bit of info on the Mark's adapter setup..

I bought the last 6l80E/HF2AV setup.. they won't have any more produced until the end of january.

As part of the email string for that, I found out you can piecemeal the kit together.. meaning the kit that is shown on their website includes the motor mount adapters that we can't use (LHD/RHD).. and they can quote out a kit that is cheaper because it won't include those. Not sure how much cheaper.. but they said contact them directly for a quote vs just ordering the stuff off the site.

I wonder if they will sell just the spud shaft? I'm thinking a manual transmission with a NP241 based doubler, their spud shaft from the doubler to the HF2A. I have the means to make the adapter plate, but not the shaft.

The email made it sound like you could get whichever parts you need.. email them to find out for sure. Outside of special holiday hours they seem very responsive.

Not sure if these pictures help. I can tell you that there is more than enough clearance everywhere with the oil pan. I run a 4 - 5" OME lift with Slee front lower control arms.

Those help a TON. The pan I plan to run is shallower than that, which should offset me only having two inches of lift nicely.

Thanks for the pics.. I'm pretty sure they'll be very helpful for more than just myself.

No problem. Taken in a dark garage with an iphone lying on my back. There will be some very detailed pictures and videos released from the builder after he edits them. It's a lot easier when it's on a lift.

@bloc Do you have a build thread?

So after doing a bit of digging I think the LS3 (P/N: 12640748) will physically fit with my 2" lift, however the oil pickup is in the middle of the pan, near the front of the sump, vs the back. That makes me somewhat concerned about oil starvation during very steep climbs.

I might do a little more experimentation.. trying to compare likely climbing angles and see where that'd put the pickup in relation to the oil level.. but right now I'm not going straight to the F-body pan.

Azcrackshot's pic makes me want to at least see how bad off the stock gen4 truck pan is.. at least before ordering the f-body pan. Maybe even have it modified locally.

Not yet. I might put one together after the engine is in but at least in the past I'm usually so busy keeping track of everything I need for the swap (and still eat/sleep/work) documenting everything in-process is far from my priorities.

That said.. anything novel or interesting.. or that I think will be particularly useful for the community will get posted here or as an individual thread. Stuff like the oil pan strategy.

To all on the fence about doing an LS swap let me say this.....

After driving my 80 the past few days with the 6.2/6L80E I don't care what it cost to complete..it puts a big ass smile on my face! Makes driving it fun and you get a lot of onlookers pulling next to you trying to figure out how the old lifted Land Cruiser with big tires is quicker than their sports car or late model GM truck. She is smooth and pulls great for such a heavy beast. I just hope I get over the newly found freedom this motor has brought me because the gas milage is suffering with the heavy right foot. :D

If it helps anyone with the decision to go all in on a swap I make an open offer to meet up in AZ for a test drive when we can coordinate our schedules. I guarantee it puts a smile on your face or I will buy lunch.

I realize this doesn't directly solve your problem because my adapter is for a 6L80E but I had to do something similar on my '96.
I had to buy a '91-'94 shifter with the square bolt pattern ( although it's not exactly square) to replace the rectangular one I had. Marks adapter also put my shifter to low and to far to the side to fit up through the floor correctly. I was a little disappointed in the location that they had the boss ,so I had to machine a simple adapter to move it where it needed to be. maybe this will give you and idea how to make yours work

I ran the same 91-94 trans case shifter but had no issues with alignment on my 6L80E T-case adapter from Mark's. I had and still have issues with some of their parts fitment though. My ac compressor mount is off by .115" or 2.9mm so the compressor doesn't sit forward enough and the belt it out of alignment. This causes a bit of a squeal and drives me nuts. I am waiting for my builder and Mark's to figure out why a brand new part doesn't fit like it should and get this resolved.

Lets get some video of that beast! Would love to hear that exhaust note!

Road Racing an LS3 SS - LS1TECH
^Kinda apples to oranges there, but I figure wheeling a truck could put oil levels in similar territory. Of course you probably won't be running the same RPM as someone scooting around a track, but you could find yourself sitting at a pretty healthy angle for a bit while waiting for a spotter or something.

The exhaust is pretty quiet by design but it does have a valve in the muffler that open at full throttle to give it that GM LS3 note. I am running the 4 factory cats and a huge muffler. I am very pleased with how it sounds. I will try and get a video made and post it. Here is the muffler I am running for anyone interested.
