85 22re clutch kit ?'s

I am currently switching my 85 4runner with a 22re from the POS auto that is in it to a W56 transmission that I picked up from a 94 pickup w/ case. I am looking for clairification on flywheels from the gurus here. It appears that there is a flywheel change in 92? Can you retro fit this flywheel and clutch kit to an 85? Looks to be that the flywheel is bigger or is it just a surface enlargement or am i finding completely false info....

Any input will be appreciated, thanks in advance.

I've never heard this, but that doesn't mean it isn't true. I would call Marlin, he will know for sure.

I'm pretty sure there are some different flywheel part #s but my understanding is that you can bolt any flywheel/clutch from any 20R/22R/22RE.

I have a Marlin HD clutch in my mini that I'm taking the flywheel and clutch and swapping it onto the 87 22RE I'm putting in.

The turbo flywheels and clutches are a little larger, not the same.

I don't think the engine year will matter. As long as you have the correct clutch for the flywheel.

whatever, yeah there are definitely two different clutch/ flywheel combinations.

either will work as long as you get the correct pressure plate and clutch disc to go with the flywheel.......

otherwise it wont work....ask me how i know
