I have an 82 and 81 truck for sale. 82 has power steering. Problems with 82:
Transmission pops out of first gear if not engaged. Transfer case needs cajoling to shift between 2 wheel and 4 wheel drive. Bed has rust and diamond plate welded over it. Welded in new floor pans.

81 has no problems. Govt truck and is in great condition. Trucks located in Chattanooga,TN. Both trucks run fine and have been driven 45 minute trips with no issues. First pics are of 82.

A dreamer is someone who thinks they can get a perfect rust free , one owner, garaged fj45 for 10k!!
Are either of these what you describe?

If either one of these trucks was rust free, clean , and one owners, They would be worth a fortune. Unfortunately they are not. But if one person wants to pay crazy money to buy these dogs, go ahead.

Here is my 1980 fj45 , one owner, been in the family for ever. We just retired the truck from our farm in Chicoral , Colombia.
And that is all I have to say. Because I guess I'm a dreamer.

Thanks for the kind words. Looks like a nice truck. Is it for sale? If it is, there is a classified section where you can sell it. And I don't know if it is nicer than my 81 because you posted two pictures and said it was from your farm in Columbia. It might be and it might not. The truth is that it isn't relevant which one is nicer. You can sell your truck for whatever price you want and I wish you the best. I am just not sure what that has to do with my truck. Why can't I sell my truck for the price that makes sense to me? If you don't like the price, you don't have to buy it. It is not like I have a monopoly on these trucks for anyone to be sore about the price. I think I have a nice truck. I didn't have to fix anything on it. I wish I never painted it so I wouldn't have everyone claiming indirectly I was a crook. I drive it all the time and it doesn't give me any issues. You can come see the truck and drive it and inspect it and then report back to everyone if this truck meets your standards and is fit for sale. I don't mean to sound like a **** but you are being a ****. And luckily I don't need the money so if you influence someone from buying my trucks I will be OK. I showed you pics of my truck with original paint which I haven't seen 99 percent of people here do. Anyway, I am not here to offend anyone. I just thought this looked a forum where someone might want a truck.

From Colombia with all these dishonest, non skillfull body shops, 36 years abused and overloaded on the farm and just now retired !?!

That year and model is worth there $1,5K US, but as it is a one owner because nobody else never ever wanted to buy it.

I give you $3K US for it, shipped and delivered, but without the FJ Cruiser rims

Nice truck! It looks like it is well taken care of and I'm gl as d it gave you years of reliable service.
Unfortunately, there are people who are trying to sell trucks from SA that were worked harder than yours, but we're not maintained and were "repaired" with mismatched and s*** parts and they splash and dash them in hopes of hooking a sucker.

@ja3aliy , if you are truly above board and feel these trucks are truly worth your offering price, then post lots of detailed pics of thetrans, tcase, axles, frame knuckles, springs and underside of the body and inside the rear fenders and the door bottoms.
Otherwise people, rightly or wrongly, assume you are just like some of the others who have come here and tried to pass of beat down s*** boxes for stupid coin.

OP means original poster...
It sets off alarm bells when a person posts trucks for sale which have been resprayed by masking everything off, rather than removing them and they have mechanical issues.
We have a member of our club who brought a BJ42 from SA back with him... the paint looks good but the rest of the truck is a basket case, including mismatched rear springs, and hollow rear brake drums.
I'm sorry if you paid too much, but you are asking waay too much, IMHO.
Wow, I had no idea that SA had any BJ42 or any diesel rigs. I have only run across gas models. Must have been brought in by someone. That's cool

I have never seen an older diesel in Saudi.

If you want to see pictures because you are genuinely interested I have no problem sending you pictures of whatever you like. Even better you can come see the trucks. If this is just an argument for arguments sake, we shouldn't waste each other's time. The more you comment and I comment over opinions (trucks you have yet to see or drive) the more likely you or I will get offended and that is unnecessary. My trucks are in Chattanooga and I don't think you will be disappointed in the 81. The 82 is a reliable truck with power steering and for the right person it might be the right truck for the right price.

Spend a couple hundred bucks and come see them. You might change your mind. You get to see two trucks at one time.

Listen, we are not hear to beat you up or discredit you, however, when you try to sell your trucks on MUD we expect FULL DISCLOSURE with lots of pics and engine data.

Unfortunately American buyers have fallen prey to unscrupulous sellers, and now as a result, buyers are very cautious about buying imports from Costa Rica and other world locations.

THE BLOATED LAND CRUISER MARKET

Monday, May 9, 2016

The Land Cruiser Gold Rush has resulted in the FJ40 market becoming increasingly crowded with foreign models, shoddy restorations and outright SCAMS. While there are some nice trucks, I’m seeing a lot of pigs with lipstick and the asking prices make me say “REALLY?”

Many of these trucks have come across the border. FJ43’s, BJ40’s BJ42’s FJ45’s, Troopies and even the Brazilian Bandeirante Land Cruiser clones. All the choices make it increasingly difficult to weed through the herd and find what you’re looking for.

If you have a good eye and know Land Cruisers, you will spot many trucks that are not even complete. I have to wonder when I see a $50,000 asking price and the seller didn’t even bother to put all the parts back on the truck. I often see missing emblems, reflectors, bumperettes and even wipers! WTF? Then there is the widely varied quality of work. If you see door limiters and window cranks and glove box doors that have just been blown over with the same color paint as everything else, do yourself a favor and RUN!

I’m not sure how many people are buying vintage Land Cruisers but it’s clear there are a WHOLE bunch of sellers! If you search for Land Cruisers made between 1960 to 1983 on eBay you will see over 50 vehicles to choose from. Hemming's currently has another 46 trucks offered and if you can manage to search ALL of Craigslist, you will find 100 more! There are many speculators in the market and even the unscrupulous types that just swipe the photos from legitimate sellers and put up there own ads for a vehicles they don’t own and cannot deliver. These are the “to good to be true” offerings and if you see one, don’t be fooled.

For me and LCN, It’s business as usual. I concentrate on USA trucks produced between 1978 and 1983 and that’s been the focus since 1995. I look at hundreds each month hoping to find something worth owning and I find myself yearning for the “good old days” when most people just thought an FJ40 was some kind of weird Mail Jeep. Ah, but those days are gone. I guess we’ll just have to wait for the dust to settle and hopefully we can get back to a stable market that is more informed and less opportunistic. In the meantime, do your homework and have a great summer!

:)
