Looks to be running an 18" drag radial. Like a Hoosier DOT Drag radial in 325/45 18, which would be a 30.2" tire. Only problem is the 18" Volks that fit an 80 aren't wide enough to fit a 325 tire.

Hey - long time lurker here who just finished both your threads Scott.... seriously incredible and aspirational stuff!

Anyway, any idea what tire that Patrol is running....? i love the meaty sidewall.

Yep.

Did a little more looking.

The Rays that fit the 80 in 18" are:

Volk TE37SB - 18x8.5" Face2, 22 and 29 offset
Volk TE37 Large PCD SB edition - 18x8" Face1, 38 offset
Volk TE37 Large PCD - 18x9" Face2, 0 offset
Gram Lights 57 Trans X - 18x9" 0 and 25 offset.

All of the Volks being 1 piece forged with the Gram Lights being a cast wheel.

Really the only ones that would fit are the 0 offset, so TE37 Large PCD and Gram Light 57 Trans X, both are 18x9 wheels, for a 325 drag radial recommended wheel size is 11-12" wide.

And really besides that one tire, in an 18" tire selection you are going to be limited drastically in height to between 26-28" and I think a 26" tire would look way too small on an 80. Even the 29.2" tire is pushing it.

Haha yeah pretty nuts! It's a little misleading and the Patrol makes around 1900hp but still pretty funny.

this kind of ruins it for me. the patrol is all GTR under the stripped body.

Haha yeah I found that out when I was trying to figure out how they got those Volk ZE40's to fit, because they don't show any fitment for a Large PCD or 6x139.7.

But yeah it's just a shell with R35 GT-R, engine, drivetrain, front and rear suspension and even interior!

Absolutely beautiful! I mean, seriously! WOW!!

But hey, you gotta stop telling us "My funds for projects like this have all but disappeared." and then continuing to drops bucket loads of $$ on one-off parts and mega liquid paint jobs ;)

My funds for this project have all but disappeared.... ;)

Seats were tested fitted, I had a custom battery hold down built from CNC aluminum, still need to do the interior sound deadening removal and new installation and new carpet install, but I have also started crazy long hours and I am just keeping my head above the water. lol.

Haha no, I just hate to show those badass seats in the truck when I really need to get the old soundedening off the floor, strategic new stuff down, and a nice new carpet. Kind of like taking pics of a supermodel in the junk yard. lol.

Must have pawned camera for money...:frown:

Does your CNC battery hold-down look like the one on the Odyessy Battery website? Hopefully you didn't spend that much to have it made, but I'm sure by the time you got done drawing it.........

Yep looks a lot like that! But I went lengthwise not widthwise for the top piece. Their kit is about $130, but there were a few things I didn't like about it, so just did my own. lol.

Well I may have opened my mouth and this project might be taking another big step. I said from the beginning I had a weight and hp goal. I am fairly confident that getting the hp isn't going to be a problem. Then I started kind of looking at engine weights. These old cast iron blocks are heavy. I don't have a number on the 1FZ but a big block Chevy is about 225-240lbs when it's cast iron, and their billet aluminum blocks are as low as 85lbs!

So I jokingly started throwing it out there that there needs to be a billet aluminum 1FZ block.

Well there is a crazy enough Aussie that also thinks there is and it sounds like he is going to start. I didn't know much about him but quickly learned that their race team is pretty huge in Australia. And he (Ben Bray) holds the record for SR20 4 cylinders at around 2000hp!

Anyways I really am batting way out of my league but do want to find out where this goes. But a full billet block and solid 1FZ really sparks my interest!

Hi Scott
Been reading your thread and saw this. I found that all block picture and have been searching like crazy for who made it.
I researched havering one made quite some time ago, way pricey for one of. Do you have any more info or news?

There is only one guy thinking about making a billet block and it is Bray Racing in Australia. There is a lot more 1FZ stuff going on in the middle east and Australia than in the US. I think it is going to be a race only block though, limited water passages, etc. You could contact Bray Racing on FB.

Jeep just released their Trackhawk at the New York auto show. With 707hp and 645ft/lbs of torque it makes this concept seem even less ridiculous. Haha.

I am sorry for the long delays with this project, it certainly has not gone as planned but I am hoping to get back on top of things very soon. I should know later this week if I am going to have a lot more time and money to put towards projects haha.

Until then here is a picture of the Trackhawk and I definitely have a goal to beat. 0-60 3.5 sec, 1/4 in 11.6 @ 116. haha.

You'll destroy this heep and look better doing it!

I actually think the Jeep looks pretty decent, kind of tough. One great thing about it is that the Jeep will bring tire options to the market. They are using the same 295 section width that I am but likely in a 45 aspect ratio which will give another 1" of height. 30.2" vs 29.2" which I think will be good to help fill out the LX wheel well a little better. I really wish Volk offered their 18" wheel in an 11" width so I could pickup a set and throw those 325 drag radials on them! Lol

This probably isn't the best place to ask this but this here thread gets lots of traffic and I'd like to get a quick answer if possible. What is everyone torquing their 2jz head studs from ARP to when using them as main cap bolt replacements in the 1FZ?

Depends on the 2JZ studs there is different material, but the most common material should be 90ft/lbs if I remember right. It should be listed in the package. Also make sure you trim the studs so you don't crack your oil pan!
