hahaha reminds me of my buddy's dad's old car: a Plymouth Vega with a big 'ol buick V8. He was actually pretty competitive in autocross of all events, not much Vega left of that car either.

There she goes, off to paint and body!

That thing looks f***ing awesome. Maybe a little bigger tire one day? or a little lower? Though it could settle.

I', surprised the shop that built the Matador didn't laugh at you when you told them what you wanted done...

Just looking at the shot of your truck on the flatbed I can see why you were interested in poverty pack rear bumpers. It would look nice if there was a way to tuck that thing in but still retain a clean, simple factory look. Either way, it's gonna be sweet.

Trust me I have been racking my brain to find a tire that is any bigger and not an all terrain. I am running a 295/40 20. The Jeep SRT 8 runs a 295/45 20 in a Run flat that is about $530 a tire. In a 305 and 315 they are only 30 or 35 series so they are actually shorter. There is a General Tire in 295/45 20, but I don't really like the General brand. The original plan was the custom 21" wheels but when Volk/Rays came out with TE37 Ultra's I thought it would be a cool Japan homage. I have been looking all over, I was even thinking if I could find a drag radial I would do that, but Nitto, M&H, Mickey, nor Hooser make anything bigger than a 29" and the current wheel is 29.2" so I will keep an eye out but as of right now this is about as big as you can go given the performance tires out there.

I think I will get a little more drop once I get the interior and everything back in. But with the 80 series if you run your hand under the front fender you can see there is no place to tuck, the top of the fender is at the wheel opening.

And like you recommended earlier I would love to do like a 3" chop, but just is simply not in the cards. lol

Yeah I think once everything gets 4 coats of Tuxedo black it will blend a little better, not custom but better. :)

Who did your motor? What put you so far over budget? Did you go with rods and pistons?

Can't wait to see this thing. Finally getting my motor in today... way over budget so the tray is going to have to wait. Have compounds and tranny that need to go in new tow pig I bought waiting for this thing. (3500 Ram)

Went with local Houston guy... rods and pistons, bored to 100.... or a 4.6 liter. Partially my fault... didn't stay on top of it, wrong parts ordered, (I caught it and thought I had replied to his email... later found it in my drafts... it's tough with a 2 year old who hasn't seen you all day) cometic gasket and heads cleaned up... did 9.75 compression like you did. I still need to add it up... but was roughly 2-3k more then I had expected. This was my first bottom end... didn't account for all the small stuff and just didn't think assembly and machine work would be this high.

Hmmm 100mm is factory, the 1FZ is 100mm bore x 95mm stroke, so he must have gone 100.5 or 101mm. Sounds like a nice setup. Which rods and pistons did you use? I am still working on getting CP to send me the correct wrist pins. There is a lot of parts that go into a bottom end rebuild, we are very lucky to have @beno here on the site to put together everything for us in one package. I know I just ordered a rebuild kit from him and it has every little nut, bolt and gasket.

101... stand corrected... it's been awhile. JE pistons and Spool (out of Australia) h-beam rods with ARP bolts. They said it was over kill for what I was doing, but I wanted over built. YES!!!! The little "stuff" was not accounting for it. H square was the builder.

Noticed you are in Richmond. I work in Richmond, live in Prince George. Picked up a 97 last month. Nice to see an active member nearby.

Well welcome to the madness that is Land Cruisers. ha. If you know of any good shops in the area let me know. I like the guys at Paradise Garage, and now they have a pretty good handle on swapping springs on cruisers. Page Customs seems really awesome but they really only do body and paint. I see you have some springs on the way, that is awesome. These trucks are just about perfect with 2.5-3" of lift. I didn't see what you had planned for caster, or shocks, but if you are going to add some weight to your truck caster can easily be done with bushings.

At this point I do not know of any good land cruiser shops. Being a District Manager for Oreilly Auto Parts I do know of a few shops that do better work than others. Not sure who I will be taking the cruiser to though for some of the work i wont be doing myself. For caster i ordered a set of the Man a Fre control arm mounts. And have a set of Fox shocks waiting on me to be installed.

What part of Richmond are you in? My district is everything Northeast of the river and Midlothian. Amd I office out of our hub store at the corner of Staples Mill anf Glenside.

Very cool! Right now I live right in the middle of downtown, at 8th and Main in the old First National Bank building. I had to rent the place sight unseen as I was driving across country, so I probably won't be staying in this place after December, I really need a place with my own garage. ha.

@scottryana @Burgman I don't know what kind of stuff you have in mind that you need a shop to do, but the guys up at Independent4x in Ashland were always super chill when I went in there. He always had a couple 40s in back too.

Also @matzell owns a shop in the west end. He's a longtime cruisernerd.

Oh and @BlueCruiser84 I have your springs and shocks, maybe we can meet this weekend and I can get them to you. I will let you know how my weekend is looking via PM when we get a little closer.
