Life has been hitting me hard lately and right now costs are through the roof to the point that I can’t build these how I want to barely break even. I’ve got some ideas to scale some aspects back, and I will have to go back to the drawing board in a few places as I’m still trying to keep these things affordable. I wish I had a better update and I feel like I’m leading people on, but I haven’t forgotten about these swing outs at all and I still have every intention of bringing them back at some point when the time/costs/labor hits a good equilibrium

I dont think we mind the old swing out version

Yeah I like it too, but they’re just too labor intensive to produce and where I now live, I can’t be making as much noise as I used to to produce them.

Do whatever you need to do...I think most of us will patiently wait. What's more important is you taking care of yourself if life is hitting you hard.

Thanks for the update!

I've got some industrial manufacturing space for lease if you want to move up to Richmond, BC, Canada 😬

Any word on when it will be available

FYI :)

We're all waiting patiently on an update from him.

Happen to see that GGM (General Green Manufacturing) has a Similar Thread for what looks like a Bolt On tire carrier for our 80 series factory bumpers.. seems to be a recent post. Looks different... but great to see that some creative folks are looking for a solution. I am sure that it is no easy trick to design and build these.

Have you wanted a better way to store a tire on your rig without sacrificing precious interior cargo space or rear departure clearance? Unwilling to spend $1000+ for a heavy swing out bumper just to carry a larger spare tire?

Introducing the Summit Cruisers factory bumper swing out kit. This kit includes the parts and instructions you need to build a rear tire swing carrier for your vehicle while utilizing the OEM rear bumper.

Pros

Heavy duty 1 3/4" spindle with grease zerks

Gas strut assistance

No need to install auxiliary tail lights

Extremely robust and stable design

Lighter weight alternative to a heavy rear bumper

Less expensive alternative to a heavy steel bumper

The tire swing out is available for either side of the vehicle

Does not attach to the body of the vehicle like the oem style. Keeps body smooth and rust free.

General Information

For kits sold before January 2018, those are Version 1.

Kits sold from January 2018 to current are Version 2.

Details for Version 2 can be found on page 12.

These are built in batches and then modified for the side chosen once the deposit is paid. I do not build these to order. Once they are gone, I won't have any more available until I have time to build more.

As this is a kit, welding is required. All pieces to build the tire swing out are included along with a license plate extension bracket. Auxiliary bumper lights not included. The receiver relocation kit is not available. A latch plate that bolts into the pintle hitch mount will be included. Cooler/jerry can baskets are not available. Some tools/hardware are needed to finish this kit.

*This kit is designed around holding a 6 lug OEM 16x8 wheel with a 35x12.5" tire. It also works with the 17x7.5" FJ Cruiser/4Runner wheels with more backspacing.

Starting at $520+ shipping (PM me for shipping outside of the US)

$100 non refundable deposit required. Let me know which side you would like the swing out to go on when you submit your deposit. From that point, the kit should be in your possession in under 2 weeks. Rest of payment due before shipping.

(PM me to confirm your information and for placing a deposit)

Paypal or cash if local to Oklahoma City, OK.
Are you still selling these? I'm very interested. Also, I LOVE how your cruiser sits. What's your lift/tire specs? I'm a brand new LC owner by the way, happy to be part of the forum😁

Nice!

Doggos seem happy as well!

1994? Looks like a little bit of a lift? Roof top tent or rack?
They love it! 1991 triple locked. Not factory locked though, aftermarket air lockers for the front and rear. Bought it with a 2" lift but the shocks are shot and springs are old so I'll probably swap for an OME 2" heavy in front and rear. Plan on getting a front bumper and buy/make drawers, along with a swingout. My girlfriend and I do a TON of camping, so trying to make as much room for gear as possible. And up top is a GFC roof top tent. Gutter mounts, so no rack needed! But the tent itself has T-channels on each side so it's basically a rack in itself. Can also add crossbars along the top! Haven't decided between 33" or 35" tires. I do more expedition type driving vs crawling. Might settle for a happy 34ish inch. But that's the plan so far! We'll see where she takes me haha.

Also plan on painting it once I decide on a color and have the cash to do so 😁 Clear coat's peeling so I want to seal it up before the panels get damaged and rust. Plan on keeping it until she dies and rebuilding so going all out.

Only limiting factor is the wallet, but I'm sure everyone on this forum is plenty familiar with that.

Sweet! I hope you got it for a good deal!

And yeah...that limiting factor a lot of us run into...$$$ - I'm baselining mine first; I've had her seven years but i'm just now in a position to update. It's a slow process...tires were first, then the cooling system update for Preventative Maint (the entire thing), next is the ignition, but I'm chasing some electrical gremlins

Sounds like you're ahead a little bit with the mods also! That's always a great bonus. And you plan on setting up the same things I'm planning with my bone stock '97!

I haven't made a decision yet on a RTT...I picked up a StarCraft RT10 "Rugged / OffRoad" pop up camper several weeks ago to tow behind my Cruiser...she's a bit hefty but will go a lot of other places a "normal" PUT can't.

Feel free to DM me (or on my other thread I mentioned above) so we don't keep making others think the owner of this thread is updating with news about his swing outs, haha!
