80 series 4x4 Labs rear bumper fitment concerns

I built up one of these bumpers myself a few months back. One of the first steps is to secure the "wings" to the rear frame. This is done before the main crossmember portion is fitted. There is quite a lot of adjustment in the mounting holes for these wings. I would be surprised if it wasn't possible to align the bumper up correctly. Chopping that flare brings a tear to my eyes 😬

I have this bumper. Ordered it completely built and powder coated. Went on perfect. Your drivers side looks spot on. But the passenger looks to be too far forward. First thing I would do is take it off. It’s easy. Just 10 bolts. Look to see if your frame rails are bent or if shop that installed it miss cut the passenger side.
If it’s not the truck then with bumper off you can pull a tape and see if the bumper is not square. Let us know.

A friend and I built two of these when the DIY version first came out. It was really surprising the differences between our two cruisers. While there is a possibility the bumper was a bit off, don’t discount there may be issues with your cruiser too.

yep, that’s why I absolutely am not pointing any fingers. Could easily be my cruisers fault, also why I was looking for some recommendations if any lol, if that is the case.
Just got my bumper off, going to take some measurements shortly.

I got it all back on, wasn’t very difficult, bolts line up just fine, with a rough measurement my frame measured square from the very rear inside to inside, top and bottom and the front part of the rear,
top and bottom, all the same. The bumper didn’t seem off either?
Holes lined up fine, the right fender is just super close no matter how you adjust with the bolts loose. Not really sure. May just order a flare, paint it, chop the bumper and attempt to bend it out a tad? Not that big of a deal. Just freakin annoying.

BTW very nice looking truck and I can understand your frustration looking at it. Hopefully you can find a good solution.
Thank you a lot man! She’s come a long way in the 3 years or so I’ve had it. Completely stock to this, which ain’t much but it’s honest work. And I know it’s 30 years old and I shouldn’t be worried about little cosmetics and that cut but DANG It bothers me.

My pre-built bumper has a similar issue. Real snug against the drivers side flare, can fit a finger in between the bumper and flare on the passenger side. I've always assumed my truck had some sort of collision prior to my ownership and was slightly off-square. Wonder if the Jig at the assembly shop is outta whack a little?

It’s bothers me too because i can’t explain it yet. If I could explain it I could maybe live with it. 🤣

Maybe find another 80 owner with same bumper willing to swap to see if results are different?

This is why I build my own stuff and do my own work.
