Another clean build... very nice work. I really enjoy seeing these go together right.

Tires look nice. What was the cost for four?

They cost me $778 for 4 of them mounted and balanced with new tubes. That includes an 8.25% sales tax. It seemed pretty reasonable to me considering what else is available in that size.

I didn't buy the spare tire yet because It doesn't appear that I'm going to be needing it anytime soon. :D Now that deer and quail season have kicked in, I haven't made any progress on this project at all.

Wow... what a good read... keep up the good work.

You are really good, im learning alot. You make alot of guys on here feel like they can get r done.

Thanks! To me, it's just like most things in life, just a function of money and time. I don't have either of those in abundance, so this thing is going to drag out for a while. Rest assured, I will get r done.;)

Thanks for tagging along.

I've made some progress on this thing recently but haven't taken the time to post up any pics. I think they are pretty self explanatory.

Yes, the bed was expensive but it is very nice. I don't want to think about how much it cost right now. It came from Paul in Panama.

I was missing one of the rear axle set screws, so I made one out of an allen head screw. I welded a bubble on the top and cut a groove in it with a hack saw. I was putting it all together last weekend and didn't want to wait on ordering a screw from Toyota. It worked just fine.

The bottom side of the bed is done now. Yesterday it was cleaned and sanded and the few brackets that had some surface rust were treated with Picklex 20. Then it was wiped down again with Dupont Kwik Prep just before being Epoxy Primed with Omni MP170.

I let that dry overnight and then hit it this morning with a generous coating of Rhino Linings HardLine which is a 55 Shore D product. There was a little bit of black left in the hoses when switching over to the red Hardline, so the actual lining turned out a little darker than it should have been. No big deal, really.

Final step was 2 good coatings of Rhino Linings U/V Topcoat, which is a 2K Polyurethane paint, in Freeborn Red.

The primer and paint was all done by brush. That was the only way I figured I could get good coverage in all of the nooks and crannies

I finally have something in a color that's not black.

I got the steering stabilizer cleaned up, painted and installed this weekend.

Then, I got the rest of the bed prepped and sprayed with Epoxy primer today. I'm going to let that sit overnight and then spray over it tomorrow with some 2K Urethane Surfacer.

A few updated pics of my progress. I got the engine back on the frame a couple of weeks ago and brought the rolling chassis to my shop. I had the flywheel resurfaced and installed a new clutch, pressure plate, pilot bearing and release bearing. I got the trans cleaned, painted and resealed and should get it installed today or tomorrow.

I've been working on the cab at the house a lot lately. It's coming along nicely. Right now the cab floor is all held together with sheet metal screws. I'll weld it all together once I get everything where it needs to be.

You can see in the pics that I had to shorten 3 of the raised ribs on the new floor because they were in the way of the trans hump. I've also filled in all of the "extra" holes that were in the dash and firewall.

I'm test fitting things like the seats and gas tank to make sure everything will fit properly. That's how I found that the left front mounting location for the driver's seat is in the wrong spot. Better to find that out now instead of after it's all been painted.

Coming along nicely indeed!

Quick question about your FF rear end: it looks like you've got the wide brakes (like mine). Did the drums themselves have balance weights on them?

Dan

I honestly don't remember. I've got the old front drums at the house and I can check on that tonight.

The odd thing with mine was that the front drums both had balance weights, while the rear didn't.

I ended up moving one drum from the front to the rear, so I'm a bit curious as to if this was just a coincidence, or if I'm being a moron. :)

Dan

I looked at my 2 extra drums last night and neither of them had any balance weights on them at all. I'm not sure about the 2 on the rear of the truck right now. Next time I pop a rear wheel off I will let you know.
