I responded earlier from work using memory about the bumper mounting. It's actually 8 bolts total but only 2 holes drilled.

It's a little dirty in this picture because I've been driving it some lately.

I made me some solid aluminum spacers to replace the 2X4's in the earlier pictures and it is really comfortable to drive now.

In the last week or so I've started working on the rear cab panel rust and roof panel. I bought the roof panel from Vagabondcruiser a while back. This bikini top is fine at low speed but is starting to drive me nuts at highway speed.

I put the truck and my Nova in the local car show this weekend. The truck didn't win squat, I should have had it in a different category. It was my first car show so I had no idea what I was doing.

But, My Nova won 2nd place in the Muscle Car Division. They didn't have a Pro Street category which is what it is. I'm really surprised I won anything with either vehicle. There was a decent turnout with 115 vehicles.

It's amazing how many people have no idea what the FJ45 is. A lot of people seem to think it's some sort of custom homemade truck based on an FJ40.

I've been reading your build thread little by little over the past couple weeks at work. I'm super excited about picking up my first 40 tomorrow in Fredricksburg. I talked with you for a little bit at that car show about it. For those that have not seen it, it looks much better in person :cheers:Kevin

Like the top and the rack to hold it .
How did you call the soft top ?

Wow, your paint job looks super smooth. Nice looking truck.

My soft top is just a Bestop and is temporary until I can get motivated enough to repair the rust in my rear cab panel, or run across a decent one that I can afford.

Marvin it's been along time. i still talk about your cruiser. i'm getting closer in driving mine. if i can some day post pics i will. the bed is the last thing i need to get done. need the flour & wheel wells.

I just scrolled through this thread because my truck is about to be featured in a local magazine and the publisher may include a link.

A couple of things came to mind.

I stopped posting for a while at #334 in July 2009 and didn't post again until early 2011. That is because my Dad was dying. He passed in August 2010.

I am glad that my Dad got to watch me rebuild this truck to the point that he got to see. He used to hang out at my shop and house and watch me work on it. I know he was proud of me for what I was doing. He was an extremely critical SOB and he was impressed, no doubt in my mind. I loved him very much and miss him tremendously. I still think about him every single day, and probably always will.:crybaby:

I wish he could have seen one of my vehicles in a magazine. I'm sure he would have thought that was awesome!

Also, I was wondering if there is a way to preserve this thread on disk/USB? If at some point I don't renew my star, will this thread disappear?

Thanks, I needed to vent!

In case anyone needs some inspiration ! A beautiful build from a top notch person. Thanks for the top Marvin !

It has been several years since I visited this thread, again. Too busy, other interests, just plain old life in general. But, I've had something pretty "Cool" happen to my Land Cruiser since last July and I got to go get my truck back today. Vintage Air has been using my truck to design and develop their new Land Cruiser Gen IV A/C,heat and defrost offering. I think what they came up with in their new design is awesome and looks like something Toyota might have offered. If interested you can check out their website and installation instructions. A/C is pretty much a requirement where I live.
