I cleaned a few more parts today and painted the differential this evening. I sprayed it with Duplicolor rattle can Semi Gloss Black engine paint. I think that should be OK, and didn't feel like it was worth cleaning a paint gun for such a small project.

I made some more progress today on cleaning, blasting and painting the front axle parts. I replaced the one broken wheel stud and got almost all of the other front axle parts ready to put back together.

The sandblaster is done with my axle housings, wheels etc. So, I plan to pick that stuff up tomorrow morning. If everything goes as planned, I hope to have this front axle put together and on the truck this weekend.

Tonight after work, I gave the other differential the same treatment as the one above.

The last pic shows the 30 years of grime I've been dealing with in the last couple of days.

I got my parts back from the sandblaster today and I have just about everyting I need to get the front axle installed and put together this weekend. I realized at about 4:30 this afternoon that the new rotors I bought were not correct. I won't get the correct rotors until Tuesday.

Oh well, I think I should still be able to make some good progress.

I'll put the other caliper together tonight, and I have a few bolts to blast and paint in the morning, but other than that, I think I am just about ready.

The sandblaster primered these parts for me with an industrial grade Epoxy primer from Sherwin Williams at basically no charge. How could you turn that down?

The tan color just happened to be what he was using for another project at the time. It sure made it easy to tell what had been coated well with black, and what hadn't.

The guy paints bridges for a living, all across Texas.

Hi Joe,

The best place to start is by going to this link and becoming a "star" member. It helps to support this site and gives you a lot more flexibility when posting in threads. At least that's what I did when I got started.

Thanks, and good luck with your project.

Thank you, guys!

This is a post to say that I appreciate the words of encouragement. It's also a post to say that I am sorry that I haven't been following all of your threads very closely for some time. I have been distracted by some other events in my life, for about the past 6 months.
Here is to everyone that has taken on one of these projects.

I hope you're project is proceeding faster than mine.

We're all in the same boat, so to speak!

When I finally got home this afternoon, I made a little progress. I had a whole list of stuff to do, so I got a late start on the Cruiser.

I got rid of all of the sand from the sandblasting by hanging the axle housing and Gunk'ing it several times. Then I rotated is 180 degrees and Gunk'ed it several more times. The sand is gone, trust me!

I got the axle housing mounted to the frame, and then dealt with intermittent showers throughout the afternoon. I didn't make as much progress as I wanted to, but I did finally get the diff/3rd member mounted.

I should mention that this frame has been sitting right where it is now for most of a year. We have had almost 60" of rainfall during that time which is about 3 times what is normal around here. I think the powder coating is holding up pretty well.

I do need to touch up some of the nooks and crannies, but, for the most part, it's looking good.

For the most part, I got my front axle installed this weekend. I'll have to wait a couple of days for my new rotors to finish the job. Here are a couple of pics.

Man, life will throw you some curve balls when you aren't ready sometimes.

For about the last week and a half, I've been working with a computer guy to recover from the "Blue Screen of Death" (complete hard drive failure), on my home computer. No virus on the computer, just a mechanical defect.

There were years worth of pictures on that hard drive and none of them have been recovered yet. I know, I should have been backing up that data periodically, but most of it isn't backed up. Hindsight is always 20/20 I guess. I'm good about backing up my business stuff, but never have been good about backing up my personal stuff.

I guess I'm going to have to keep on paying Woody to keep this site going and salvage the pics in this thread if I'm ever going to get this truck running again. :crybaby::whoops::censor::doh:

I painted my wheels a couple of weeks ago with the gray epoxy primer and then clear coated them. The local tire store actually had 4 of these tires in stock, but they had to order the new tubes. I finally picked them up today.

255-85-16 Cooper Discoverer S/T's. I liked the way they looked on Buckroseau's truck, and there aren't many tires to choose from in that size. And, like Matt said in his thread, the price was right.

Hopefully, these pics will post OK. All of the software on my computer is new, and I am struggling to get used to it right now.
