I am now a proud owner of a 77 pig. I know it is not as cool as some of the older ones but that is good because when I am done it is going to be far from its 1977 counter parts. I currently have a 02 Tacoma that I love. It has been a great truck but when the FJ55 is done it will be the end of the Tacoma era for me. I am always up for a good technical trail but most of the time I stick to 3.5 trails. I hate breaking things. I need to be able to drive it on the highway. I was originally going to 3 link the front of my taco and add 5" Alcans to the rear. Now the pig gets the money and upgrades I am not new to Land Cruisers and offroading but I have no where near the experience that a lot of you have so please give me some advice.

Here are my plans for my pig.
383 stroker
Manual tranny( I haven't decided what I am going with yet)
Coilovers in the front( not sure how I am going to link it, FJ80 style?)
Leafs in the rear( not sure on which ones or lengths)
Sound deadening
Drawer system in rear
Better heating
Bigger brakes
Ford 9" rear end
Front end to match
H4 lights
Usual FJ55 frame off stuff
Bumpers, sliders, lockers, yada, yada, yada same sh@$ diferent cruiser

I would like to stay at 5" of lift. I am doing the coils in front for ride and handling and therefore may link FJ80 style to preserve road manors. That is more important than offroad capability to me. Don't get me wrong, I don't expect this thing to be something that its not. It is a 30 year old vehicle, I just want to build it right from the start unlike what I did with my taco. It gets expensive redoing things. I just want to preserve current road handling and improve ride quality if possible. I may go with coils in the rear, but I wanted input on which way to go. I will not run anything bigger than 35's. I plan on having it back on the road in a year and done in two. Please tell me if my plans are not smart or if I have some unreasonable expectations because I think it will be sick when it is finished.

Nice piggy!

Thanks for the compliments. It is going to stay blue and white, just get repainted.
Yea those tires are hilarious. I have some 34x10.5 tsl's that should be a little more appropriate. I found it in Buena Vista, Colorado. Almost no rust. A little on the rocker panels and that is about is. I have been trying to buy it from the same guy for 5 or 6 years now. He put a piston through the oil pan. They rebuilt it but never got it to run. The interior in in better shape than my 02 Taco. Best $400 I ever spent. Started getting parts for the motor. This thing is going to be sick. I am so stoked.
