When I was a kid I remember watching a documentary on the Golden gate bridge. The painters would start on one end and paint. When they reached the other end it was time to turn around and start again. I get it now...

Wow! I think I watched that when I was already middle aged...

If I can "git roun to it" this week I am going to finally install the Transmission to Transfer Case Bypass Hose from @shipmag. Installing as a preventive maintenance measure at this point. I bought this hose last spring but was OBE with other "issues". Anticipating firing the ole' mule up in the near future. So, I want to install the hose beforehand. Should be a straight forward installation.
I was just scanning through forum and came across your thread. As I read I came across where you had bought the hose and was going to install it. Hope it works well for you.

It has worked very well for me!! Very good product, very good service!!

Marking time until the rear heater core arrives. So, with no other earthly responsibility to attend to, I cleaned and waxed my wheels. 17" FJC steelies and Cooper S/T's. Taking the wheels off was like kick'en over rocks in the crick (creek for my northern friends), you never quite sure what you're going to find.....

Hit the spring hangers/pins (not the best picture) and U-Bolts with a good double dose of "PB". I'll repeat that process for the next couple of days. Shackles should come off easy with the liberal dose of Never-Seize that was applied. They look very clean. Coming up on the 1YR mark for the Face-Lift...My protracted engagement with the bed liner was time consuming.

Sometime after the springs, shackles and shocks go on, I'll need to address the TRE's.....

Better pics of the rims and tires. Ewww-eee that's a whole lotta diamond plate.:bag: I removed the silver Toyota center caps from the rear wheels. I have a set of black Toyota center caps I'll install as soon as I make a parts run back to the "Garage". I'll probably bring the hard top and ambulance doors back as well...OK no more pics of tires...What? It's a ssslllloooowwwwww day.

Rear heater core arrived. Looks to be in very good condition. I'll take it over to the shop today and run a pressure test later.

Re-mounted the rear heater core. Tested the fan prior to installation.
"Green light Go" :bounce:Using the silicon hose as short term plumbing. My hard lines are in need of a gentle "Re-hab"....Stainless clamps on the heater core.

Today is the day. Going to see if I can corner the ole' mule and coax him into taking the saddle again. I need one vacuum line for the dizzy that I'll pick up later this AM. Changed out my radiator hose clamps yesterday after one of them fouled during torquing. Going with a constant tension stainless clamp. The only casualty was about $13 worth of antifreeze.

I'm in fear of that on mine... the antifreeze I'm using is not cheap.

I had only added a gallon before the T-bolt clamp I was using gave up the ghost. The weld on the shoulder section separated. So I decided to use a constant tension clamp. What brand of Anti-Freeze are you using? I ordered a spill free kit to "burp" the system. Wont be in until Friday AM. Added the vacuum hose to the dizzy just before lunch. Battery is charged and I should be cleared hot for start up.......

Caught the mule just after lunch, it must have been sluggish after a big meal. Hooked up the vacuum lines (2nd pic just shows the port for the dizz), added fresh gas, added TB Zinc-plus, hooked up the battery, primed the carb..

Coughed a sputtered a few times and caught.:bounce::clap::bounce:

I let it run long enough to warm up. Gauges all functioned. No leaks..I'll purge the cooling system in the AM...Using a Lisle spill free funnel ($25) to finish up. I want/need to check the timing and maybe tweek the carb a wee bit. I ran Sta-bil through the carb and ran it dry before I shut it down last year. So in theory, I shouldn't have to much to adjust. I still have the original 76 Aisin carb that needs a major rebuild (maybe spring).

So the ole' mule kicked and bucked a little but, in the end, all went well. Cold rain all day today and snow in the AM. No top or doors so I'll be content with the initial warm up in the garage. I also need to re-install the gear shift before opening the barn door all the way.
