@Chungas Revenge. Thats pretty cool…stand back and take a picture of the crowd. I was going to take my pumpkin color 45 to the local Toyota dealer to pick up a few gaskets and see if a crowd would ensue. THEN, when I’m too old to keep driving it, trade it in on something my kid or grandson wants. My problem is. There is no way those SOB’s cough up enough to make it worth it for a show room display…I do not have the temperament to deal with car dealers. I have bought loads of cars in my day and have always walked away feeling like I’ve been f***ed by a ……well, you know

The owners son is a year younger than I am. At one point, he asked me what I though his 82 was worth. I gave him what I thought was an apt answer. I told him “It’s worth whatever someone is willing to pay for it”.

I’ve only seen two other 40 series LC’s here in the land of Nod. One on the great WESVACO hunting expedition of “73” and this Dune Beige 82.

That’s a nice “pumkin”. It’s a strange and finicky market right now. BAT seems to be all over the map sheet and EBay sellers need to put the Hooka pipe down before listing. I’m not sure what your markets like in NJ. I don’t do social media outside of MUD but, one of my motor head buddy’s swears by FB marketplace. You never know..

I hope I have got some time before any of that needs to happen…I also have no social media beyond MUD and I watch BAT religiously. Quite a few have not met reserve and I agree, the market is weak now. That pumkin sits in my garage on a 12x15 carpet and I moved it today to vacuum the rug… it is in mint new condition and should…I repeat should bring a good dollar in the better market.

I have only seen 3 FJ40’s in this area in the last 2 years…. A red one, a light blue one and mustard yellow in a driveway out of the corner of my passing eye. And, as you mention, I can’t go for gas with either the 40 or the 45 without a 10-15 minute discussion with someone….most of the time I don’t mind since it’s my favorite thing these days…as for Facebook…don’t use it

@Chungas Revenge …this hit me last night as I remember my MUD journey. I had asked a question about suspension I believe and my comment was “ guys, I am 69 yrs old”. You wrote back about some of the comments and suggestions being offered by other members and said …”hey, he’s 69”

Hard to freakin’ believe this but I’m going to be 72 soon….id much rather be 52 . When I say “ I hope I have time”. I really mean it. One of the few years that I’m enjoying doing something with the time I’m out in the pole barn and screwing with the trucks. I ain’t going any where but when I hear about someone who just …you know, poof…gone. It works on my psyche. Doc says other wise . I HOPE he knows his stuff..😂

So in other words, I’m still looking for a softer ride… George at Valley Hybrids sent me the numbers but they are not in until end of sept for those parabolic springs you sent me. That should prove to be better based on a few reviews

Funny we were discussing how few FJ40’s are in the area…my son was at the beach with his family this morning and drove by this.

The parabolic springs have a following in British car circles. That’s the first place I caught wind of them. Ran across the vid on YouTube (The 40 Chanel) awhile back. Just recently saw the MUD thread discussing them “pre-review”.

IMHO they look promising and seem suited for certain types of driving conditions. Anxious to see how you like them. I have a feeling, if they “pan out”, Kurt will have a hard time keeping them in stock.😁

Should have mentioned….my gun rack is actually mounted on the ceiling inside the truck in the center over my right shoulder. It is high enough that if your not looking for it, you never see it.
@knuckle47 Do you have photos of the rack or a source? I have been thinking of trying rigid molle panels (RMP) on the roll bars. But cieling mounted may be a better option.

Give me about 45 minutes…. I’ll get you one

@MatthewMcD i should think this can be mounted 90* for a different retrieval method. The I don’t like the 4 holes in the top but they can be glassed in if ever and it doesn’t leak.

I am looking at a design that spans the roll cage and does not penetrate the roof. If I get some time this weekend I'll mock it up. Thanks for the photos.

@MatthewMcD of course! I can easily see a set of flat bars to mount on the the roll bar that travel very close to the roof line and fully support a rack like this or another . Problem I see there is ….should you remove the top, you’ll have those flat bars still overhead with the gun rack unless you make it bolt on/off. When my roof is off and I am not driving, I tend to stand up and check out the views.

A full cage would make it really easy to run the rack support but if not, the fron windshield frame would be a great substitute

Agreed, I have seen the full cage and the center channel makes it easy.

Not necessarily Tech-ish (this thread walks a very fine line).

2.0 on a foray to SW this AM for some #8 in 12ga and clays. Took me 30 minutes to get out of the parking lot. An Impromptu gathering of geezers snapping pics blocked the exit.

Had my new “side chick” strapped in the passenger seat. I’ll slide a pic of her undressed in the next post. 😎

There has always been a fine line between the genius and the insane, and it is amazing how much those two are confused.

I have been accused, on more than one occasion, of gravitating toward the latter…

Likewise but I prefer to think that I am normal and everyone else is crazy. But if we are all crazy does that mean crazy is normal? I might be asking that for the voices in my head

I only listen to the voices in my head. Every time I ask myself if I’m crazy, we all say no….😉
