Remind me to never park next to a 40 that @Jdc1 has laid his hands on. I don't want people laughing at my work!
If it makes you feel any better, I don’t have access to the paint room.

Awesome, thank you for the offer on the center “52” caps/rings! I will let you know :) Did you need spacers?

I bought 285/70-17 WildPeaks and put a lift on my 4Runner to fit them a few years ago, great tire and have held up well. I think I only paid about $150 each for them, they are double that now!

I was just scrolling back through posts to find pics of the sliders at the same time you posted a new pic! I need me a set of those too! So happy you are nearing the finish line, and just in time to enjoy it this summer :) Did you decide against the 4Plus tire carrier? Sorry if you posted that and I missed it!

With the discussion on the wheels and tires, I had to go back and really look….those sidewalls are huge. Do you have any side profile views of the truck with these tires and wheels? Really sweet looking

Edited: it’s amazing the junk auto-correct will insert

Decided early on to shelve the 4plus carrier. The idea behind the 2.0 build was to maintain a “stock(ish) look” to a casual observer. Not in an attempt to fool anyone but as a nod to the original lines and build. A lot of small details went into that process. So, the original sheet metal tire carrier was kept.

I don’t have any Full Monty shots of the tires. Stayed tuned for later in the week. 1.0 had 17” FJC rims and 265’s. I really liked the ride height and profile that setup gave the mule. The new combo maintains the ride height and adds just a smidge more width. Not a tall skinny or a short fatty, they’re somewhere in between.

How are the hub caps mounted, did you add clips?

Yes, rims were modded to accept the hubcap. There are a few options out there that allow for the use of the hubcap. I really couldn’t get the profile I wanted. The CR rims can be widened but it didn’t pass the “juice worth the squeeze” criteria. Same with the stockers. FJCO rims didn’t come in black. Dean wheels were a contender also.

I’ll let @Jdc1 fill in the commentary on the setup/execution for the mod. But, IMHO the 52’s offered the best options for capturing the “stock look”.

That is a big ol honker of a spacer!
Does it need that much space?

Short story is yes- most just use a section of tube, this is quicker and cleaner without building a custom spare mount(1972 build). Needs the space to open to 90* as well.

Ah, I get it.
He’ll also have spare bazooka parts should the need arise. 👍🏽

Your work is insanely good by the way, obviously.
When I grow up I want to work at your shop. I know that if you can’t fix it with a hammer, you’ve got an electrical problem. Does that qualify me?

Sounds like you are more than qualified. Thank you, total team effort with this level of a build, and credit to @Chungas Revenge as well for strapping in for the ride and bringing us with him.

Quantum Redneckery-

1st rule of Quantum Redneckery is “For every idea extrapolated from the mini fridge, there’s probably a better way to do it, but you go with it cause your on a roll”.

When I switched 1.0 to 17” FJC steelies and the 265 Coopers I had to mod the sheet metal carrier to accept the new setup.

You can see the spacers I made to handle the larger spare tire. Used grade 8 bolts, 3/8” tubing and dual large washers to handle the additional stress. You can just make it out in the sea of black DP.

The big ol honker is really a much cleaner/easier/less intrusive way to modify the stock carrier.
