I just finished watching king of the hammers all week and there were a ton of videos of clowns at night rock crawling the trails and there are so many mini trucks still out there schooling the rocks it's crazy.

One of the most frustrating things from back in my rock days was when a $15,000 mini truck walked right up something that my $100,000 buggy struggled on.

Obviously there are very few 75 Rock crawlers here in the US because we don't have many 75s.

But what would be cooler than a 75 on one tons with working AC and heat and maybe a flatbed.

Anyone have any pictures of some wild built 75s? I may get myself a beater 75 sent over and make something cool out of it.

Need some ideas.

You saw a mini truck walk something your TC buggy struggled with?

edit to add: Wheel base does help a ton on steeper obstacles. The TC buggy's were always pretty short wheelbase for a dedicated crawler. I have a TC clone chassis and it only sits at 106". Does not climb steep tall obstacles well...

There is a 70 series truck exactly how you describe, owned buy a forum member in the Carolina's I believe. Definitely from the East Coast. White, tons, 40's, linked (I believe). There were some recent photos of it in one of the Rubithon threads, but I'm not finding them right now.

Well kind of tongue in cheek maybe not struggled but it's amazing how good those little trucks do.

I think a 75 trucks with a black box crawl box and tons would be bad ass.

Having AC and heat would also be bad ass.

Found him. This thing is pimp.

I saw a very big 75 at CLCC Fall Crawl this year but I don't think it left the campsite. I think it had Virginia plates on it

Edit, it's the one in the post above me

That's pimp. Yeah make the bed area a transformer. Be able to keep it clean and light for regular trails but then be able to add a rack for a RTT and gear for a Rubithon type deal.

Love it.

@OGBeno did the Rubicon in a 70 crawler awhile back. Don't know if it was the one already shown above. Maybe he can give some insight, but yeah would be cool. @joekatana also had a sweet medium wheel base crawler that there are photos of.

I actually did the Rubicon in my KZJ73 , for scenic wheeling like that you don't need to many modifications . My hzj73 crawler that I build a few years ago was awesome but it wasn't as capable on hardcore obstacles as a full blown buggy and it definetely wasn't streetable anymore linked and on 40' stickies .

I find the 75 pickup truck cabin and seating position so uncomfortable, I can't imagine sitting in one for several full days on a trail ride weekend. I get mildly annoyed whenever I have to test drive our customer 75's more then a few miles. (I am 5'8" for reference)

The longer +98 HZJ79 cab would be a lot better, more room to mount good seats higher up in the right position for wheeling

I fit. I'm only 5'8". Not something I want to drive to California but I can spend a day on the trail in one no problem.

That thing looked bad ass. I thought about a 73 as Meshal has a beater one but I want a tray back. Will see. It may suck.

Added a note to the above, I am also 5'8". I think the longer +98 HZJ79 cab would be a lot better, more room to mount good seats like a Beard or PRP higher up in the right position for wheeling. I think they are 10CM longer or something like that. I feel in a 75 with the stock bench seat the position is super slouchy and the wheel way too high. Just my opinion, obviously would vary person to person

Sure. 100% better and it has fuel injection but it would cost me about $25,000 more up front and I don't want to have that as my starting point.
