SAS2 @mattressking coming down Cinnamon Pass/Animas Forks into Silverton, CO.

Do yourself a favor and schedule the trip for next year you won’t regret it.

That looks fake.
It is not. The San Juans are likely the most majestically gorgeous place on the flippin' planet. Ouray/Silverton/Telluride/Durango.

When was the last time you were there? Well, that's too long. ;)

We've been spending some of the last 16 summers there. Our 62 went last in 2003. It's being restored and will likely go again in the next few months.

Haha. I did edit the photo with an app. Shot on a iPhone7+ out of the driver side window of a moving car.

Moments before, thru the windshield (yes, there is a crack)

But seriously, go drive the passes yourself don’t take my word that it’s awesome.

That place sucks, and the Telluride gas prices... don’t get me started.

The only significant thing you did was jack up the resolution/sharpening. No foul there.

I'm not sure I'll try to make Imogene Pass next time there with the 62, but shorter adventures will be worth it. That drive up in the mountains outside Ouray that approaches Imogene from that side is easy dirt road...and with the same spectacular views.

I think a fall colors trip would be a great adventure.

Yes, jerry-canning in extra gas from Cortez would be a smart move!

Haha yep, my comment was made in jest...with a sprinkle of awe. Was in Colorado a few months ago for a wedding and to look at a couple schools with not enough time to properly site see, place never disappoints. Been there quite a few times.
I have family in New Mexico too. Everytime I get West it takes me a couple days to adjust to the giant panoramic views, until then everything looks like a fake movie backdrop.

Somebody should coordinate a July 4th Mud event in the area. It could stage out of a lot of the area for camping (or lodging in any of the local communities from Montrose to Cortez/Durango), and go to Telluride perhaps for the 4th. We could actually all drive as a Land Cruiser club in the parade! Woo hoo!

Chilcotin Country
You are my least favorite person on Mud......Kidding.
Everytime you post a picture I miss BC more as I have been to many of these areas.

When was that taken? With all of the fires I would have thought that area to be smoke filled.

Either way still makes me miss home....

Not this year, a couple of years ago. It was a lot nicer, read: Cooler. I'm sitting in Thunder Bay, Ont today
and am seeing BC smoke coming across my weather satellite this morning still. It's been affecting Ontario for 3 weeks now.
