It’s not 100% official, but the loan was approved yesterday and we’re just working the final details out before purchase. I previously had a built FJ62 I sold, and regretted it. It wasn’t the perfect time for me to find another one, hence the loan, but for the price and condition I couldn’t pass on it.
Details:
1983 FJ60
Freeborn Red (one recent, driver quality repaint)
122k original miles
Interior redone/carpet/seats/headliner
Original down to the factory radio
One owner, Arizona truck.
Needs a few things, but it’ll happen over time. I’ll be in no hurry. Plans are to just enjoy it on weekends and occasional drives to work. Sometimes it pays to be in small town Arizona, lol.

@slacker24-7...what stream/river is that? Where? I grew up in Fort Smith, and that photo reminds me of a popular natural swimming hole that used to be packed with families on summer weekends in the late '50s. As I remember, it is called Natural Dam, and is off Hwy 59 north of Van Buren.
this one is south of jasper a few miles, off hwy 7 and fairly remote. Fairly unusual to run that much water in Late August .

Looks like the East Fork Buffalo on the map. Incredible wilderness. All the Ozarks and Ouachitas are amazingly dense hardwood forest. When young and living there I used to try to hunt, but the forest floor was often so dense that you could clearly hear a deer approaching well within viewing range, but not a glimpse. Hence deer stands, I suppose. I worked for a few months in Thailand and expected hyper-dense jungle. It's density had nothing on that of our hardwood forests. I digress. Go hogs! (class of '76)

@BlackCat ...that's a sweet find! Amazingly low mileage! The sun finally got our 62 exterior, but we've done well on protecting the interior. Ours is in the paint barn as I type. Congrats! See you on the AZ Highways and byways.

Spent some time and energy getting 35 years of brake dust and corrosion off the rims, and washing it for the first time since it was painted. I have to say, I never thought I’d get them clean and shiny. It looks infinitely better. Now I just have to pick up a set of 31” tires! My lifted GX dwarfs it though.

I hope you dont mind. But I re-created your photo from the Bugaboo's. Went up there this August to do some climbing and couldn't resist.

Gorgeous Cruiser! The contrast of the red, black, and chrome is gorgeous! Whatever size tires are on them now looks pretty darn good. It has that great "up on its toes" look.

What did you use to restore your rims (other than sweat equiity)?

Thank you! It’s completely stock right now, it even has the original radio in it, so it has whatever the stock sized tires are. I believe they’re 235/75/15’s. They’re dry rotted, so I’ll have to replace them. I used Bar Keepers Friend on the chrome. I originally tried a little rubbing compound, but Bar Keepers Friend made the work a lot less physical.
