That's truly has been a problem for me, making it quite and have a stainless steel muffler to soften the 5.3 rumble.
well right now its running 2 36" cherry bombs. hoping this makes it just a nice decent sound, i like the v8 like the sound but just want it to sounds smooth and quite and be able to hear everything else. and then adding sound deading before the long trip. little by little. ill let you know how this muffler is. right now running ram horns and two inch pipe with the 36" cherry bombs. will be the new block huggers in stainless and 2.5" pipe two to one with the 28" walker quite flow. will also cross bac over to passengers side after muffler to exit the back. figure it should add another 3' of pipe to quite the noise before coming out and i have a little more room on that side to snake past the airbags and long range guel tank. fingers crossed

the final product. nice little camp knife to be in the cruiser at all times. best use i could think of for the broken leaf spring. and the antler is the first buck i shot 20 years ago

When you come through Las Vegas there are a couple of us here with pigs and we would meet up for sure. Also a good Land Cruiser shop here => BTB Products / Man-A-Fre with a really nice selection of used and new parts plus a small boneyard out back.

little elevation test run for the carburetor feom sea level to 13,800. ran like a champ

13,800? Well yeah... if you measure from sea level (MSL).

However, when measured from its base on the ocean floor, Mauna Kea (white mountain) reaches approximately 33,500 feet, (4,465 feet taller than Mt. Everest), making it the tallest mountain in the world from base to summit.

If that was my truck (and who knows? Maybe I move back someday and take a pig with me!) I’d never let it touch the beach.

totally get it with the rusting issues. i came to the conclusion that its just a rig and id rather drive it and have fun with it. this is my wifes daily driver in the end no different than going and buying a Runner or Tacoma just a truck.

I saw some really rusted out Tacos on Oahu.

60 series front bench is now in and reupholstered and ready for another unknown amount of miles. Weird having matching front and rear seats. not 100% happy with my work on the new upholstery but itll work for a 54 year old rig. learned something on each seat i did so that's a plus for the next go around.

the timeline is running short for everything I wanted to get done for the road trip. Took the week off work to get some things done. Today is another day of body repair and prep. Not doing a restore on this thing just a refresh and keep it on the road longer. Paint will be Toyota colors 051 and 6p4.
Parts are also showing up recently and getting piled. New power steering pump to go on to get rid of the only leak I know of. New spare master and slave cylinder for the oh s*** box. New Reverse lights which I got all wired in and ready for after paint. Got the lifts springs on and new ome shocks, drives way better. The stainless exhaust and headers is all done and new. Seats re upholstery is done. Now it’s time to strip those out and do some sound dead proof in the cab. Then got a carpet kit to go in for the road trip for comfort. Then reinstall all interior and build out the back for camping. Roof top tent is ready to go on. Awning is cleaned up and ready to go back on. Some new leds for inside the cargo and lights for the back.

A lot has been done in the last year in prep and just to keep it on the road as a daily. It’s down for about a month to spend time getting the big things done not just weekends and evening of projects to keep my wife driving it. She now gets to drive the swb for the next month. Funny seeing her and the 3 girls rolling the 45 around all crunched together.

Happy New Years to all the pig heads and look forward to this year’s adventures and getting to meet some of you along the journey.
