I went 37's and now I'm thinking gears would be a nice addition. I've picked up bits and pieces in various threads but It would be nice to get more feedback from those who run them.

5.29's on 37's at xx speed = xxxx RPM.

"My 5.29's with 37's crawl ratio = xx compared to the stock ratio of xx.

Or anything else beneficial that could be contributed.

Thanks in advance, KR

X2^ I'm running the 365 km2's as well and have the same numbers

rnunnig 37 12 .50 r 17s
rpms r 2600 at 65mph
dont know the crawl ratio thought it was 55 to 1 with 5.29s and stock tcase
i live in the mountains of colo regearing made a vast improvement i regeared within month of mounting my 37s but like i said i live at 8000ft, and i like how much lower the truck is with 529s in 4 low

345 KM2s with 5:29s and love it. Can cruise just under 3000 rpm and still go 73-74mph. No need to go faster with a big, heavy truck. I could see the arguement for 4:88s if you dont have any mountains or are FI but in all other cases go 5:29

True speed or indicated? I would have thought the rpm's would be a little lower at that speed. Not that I care to go more than 70 or so anyway. Just surprised.

should be true speed according to the gps, speedo is about 70mph when i do 65

also get 14 to 15 mpg on 5.29s, i drive like a grandpa though no passing no flooring

yea drove tonight sorry had brain fart rpms r at 2400 at 65mph to gps, 70 on the speedo

i run arbs have not had a single issue with my gears had them set by good shop replaced all bearings and its been 2 years in this cruiser since, i dont think these trucks have enough horse power to twist and break shafts:lol:

With 37's you will start breaking birfs/shafts. They are the weakest link in the chain, that and stripping drive flanges. As far as the gears are concerend, my buddy and I set mine up (USA Standard Gear 5.29's) about a year ago and have put 30K on them by now. I don't think you can break the pinion with stock shafts/birfs....

Now when you go to Lonfeild's up front and Cromo's in the rear, that's a different story...

As for regearing, I don't even see it being worth it to regear to 4.88's, too close to stock to even be worth it. I drive mine, A LOT, and wouldn't change a thing.

I am getting around 13 MPG with a 6500# truck...not too bad concidering I was lucky to get 11-12 when I was running stock gears and 35's...

Just my 2 cents

You might break stuff if you think 37's make an 80 a hardcore crawler. Otherwise, they will make the trails you ran with 35's easier.

37" Trxus run about 2,800 RPM at 75 mph. They aren't quite low enough offload compared to 5.29 running 35's, I can't imagine choosing 4.88 unless the 37's are for looks.

5.29 gears

5.29 with 37" is a perfect combo. If your concern is that it is too low for the highway, that is simply not the cae.

That was mine, coupled with the same size tires in the OP, which are closer to 35s than 37s.

You're saying that's incorrect?
