Pics should be working now. Sorry for the tease. Total cost is still going up as I have lots more to do.

We're over $25k in at this point. The major cost was changing the interior from brown to gray and re-painting. Take those out, and this would be in the mid-high teens I think.

Congrats on the great looking rig. Doesn't get much better than that! Was this a frame off resto? Any rust repair?

Happy Birthday and your 62 rocks! What carpet kit is that?

Thanks everyone. A few answers..

2badFJS is on this board. Just search for him and send him a PM.

Carpet was done by Mudrak's interior guy. Don't know who that is.

The rig does look brand new - from 5'. The black out isn't perfect. Many parts just don't line up quite right, etc. But I don't want this to be a garage queen. She's going to get used. So the point was to do it as close to right the first time, to make her last a life time. Goal is to pass her down to my son in a few decades.

No frame off resto. Light surface rust underneath. Not anything serious, so not worth taking it apart at this juncture. Maybe when I do the engine swap, then I'll pull the body and do the frame. We'll just see.

Working on dual batteries and headlamp upgrade right now.

Wow. Can I ask what the paint cost? Did you get a respray?

Also, about the de-chrome on the windows...Is there still a good water seal on the doors without the chrome strips?

That truck is amazing. I love the door panels. Simple, yet awesome. Leather or Vinyl?

Man, I just got a birthday card for my birthday...and a few more gray hairs.

Congrats, a great looking truck - and good for you on planning to use her...

I saw the first pic and think that's pretty cool .. but when I saw the interior .. dude .. that's true porn !

Ok, pretty much end of day 1 at home. Here are some pics.

Pulled old battery

Pulled headlamps and horns.

After eternity futzing around, got the driver's lamps (Cibie H4/H1) and horn (Hella Supertone) installed

Then wired in both of slcfj62's headlamp harness and auxiliary harness (wagongear.com

In that pic you can also see my new 2nd stainless tray (stainlesstrays.com) with the relocated coolant reservoir.

(FYI the space between it and the headlamp harness controller will be for the dual battery controller.

The issue now is where to put the emissions crap. Can't get rid of it in California.

So, please go here https://forum.ih8mud.com/60-series-wagons/413831-unsmogged-dual-batt-question.html#post5881082 and see my emissions thread and give me some ideas.

Thx

More tomorrow!

Robert
