Love Gary and Mudrak's work. He is the only guy (besides me) who will work on my cruiser. He is honest, knows these trucks inside and out, and does the job right...

Congrats and enjoy.

that's a very nice looking 62. great color scheme, well proportioned and executed. i worked for gary for a while and he has a no-nonsense approach like few others. i consider myself lucky to have learnerd some of the things i know from him. his work speaks for itself.

does anyone know the paint code. i am respraying my car in the next month or two and this is the exact colour i want to go

Had some time this weekend to complete the Hellroaring dual battery install. Got my wires from genuinedealz.com. Great product at a great price. Also got 2 Sears Platinum batteries (size 65) and they do fit well with the stainlesstray.com battery trays. Note, I still need longer tubing as one is very tight (from the ASV). I just have to find something the right size (~3/16" I think). The ASV and other part were moved apart and re-secured to (1) allow for placement of the coolant reservoir, and (2) allow for fitment of the upgraded headlamp harness and aux block.

You can see I got the coolant reservoir relocated. I used a 3 1/2" bolt and drilled a new hole into the support for the emissions system. There is some wobble of the reservoir, but it doesn't move enough to concern me.

Also installed a Blue Sea fuse block and a 150A fuse for use with the stereo, etc. that will be the next wave of work. Unfortunately, the cable I ordered is about 8" too short. So I have to complete that another time.

Started installing Wagongear's storage compartments. There is some issue w/ the "custom" carpet Mudrak did. It all has to come out and will get redone. *sigh*

Once I get those finished (next weekend?) I plan to install the removable steering wheel. Pics to come.

Georg,

I've been looking for advice. I know I can get an aftermarket catch can and put it somewhere that requires less space, but as it is now, what are the problems with it being near the exhaust manifold? Heat, of course. It may melt. Would heat shield (the stick on type) be enough to guard against that? If so, then would the elevated heat cause any problems with the fluid? I'm assuming the worst is that it'd boil off, but probably not that hot.

thx

What an amazing rig. I love seeing these old rigs brought back from the brink and made like new again. With regards to your radiator overflow bottle, since you already have it mounted there, I'd just stick on the reflective insulation like you were thinking about and see what happens. Excellent work. Excellent rig.

Some interim updates. I think I'm going to leave the overflow tank there for now. I believe I'm having cooling system issues. It's not running hot, but I can't keep coolant in the catch can.

In the interim, I'm working on electrical projects. I stopped the install of the Wagongear rear panels because I realized I'm installing rear belts and the panels won't work with rear belts. I'll be swapping out panels for those that do.

Also, found out my "custom" carpet is glued down to the jute, which is in turn glued to the metal, wires, and anything else under it. So to run any cables under the carpet, I have to rip it all up. it's destroying the carpet, so the "custom" carpet is coming out and will be replaced with something more factory-like after I'm done.

Yesterday got my Cobra 75WXST CB radio. Just got in today the Wagongear AM-FM-CB antenna mount. Also got in my IPF 840 fog lights. Custom ordered some switches from otrattw.com which should be in tomorrow. Waiting on my Rigid Industries 40" LED light bar for the roof rack, and my IPF backup light. Also waiting on the 12-voltguy.com remote winch panel that goes in the place of the ashtray. That pretty much will all be the next wave of work (plus the stereo).

Spent last night beginning to remove the complete interior, cutting out carpet, unbolting the seats, tuffy, etc., so I can start the wiring project this weekend.

Pics to come.

Well, just the carpet. I'll get carpet there, but one that's not glued down. Who ever thought it was proper to glue carpet down (and to wires). That's just nuts!

The installer even knew I'd be putting in a stereo as they left me holes for speakers. How did they think I'd wire those up with glued-down carpet?

FYI there was a lack of communication there with Gary. I had brought him the cruiser with the inside gutted (I did that before I dropped it off). I even brought him a "gently used" carpet for him to clean and install. He decided otherwise...

You can order the panels from Kevin such that they will work with the rear seat belts. Talk to him and he may be able to work something out.
