Still curious which door catch is the side doors? Toyota didn't switch the spare to the driver's side in 75 with soft top curious if didn't change door catch either. Where do the cowl vent hoses drain, thru the firewall or transmission cover? Wonder if Toyota just changed the windshield and engine and used the same tub as the 74 FST in 75 on the soft top. Not uncommon for Toyota has sub models change later. Sequoia changed a year later when the Tundra changed second generation. Curious if other markets that soft tops came with hard doors which style doors they got in 75. Sorry for the questions after 74 the percentage FST imported to the US dropped to almost nothing.

One last question would like to see a picture of the two triangular piece on the windshield. Sounds like it might be aftermarket. Why it seems hard to believe now it wasn't that uncommon for owners dump the factory bows when the original vinyl top wore out because it was cheaper to buy aftermarket top/bows/doors then buy replacement top from Toyota.

I have a 75 fst - cowl vent hoses drain through the tranny cover. Spare tire carrier is on passenger side.
It's an August 75 build

I knew about the spare tire but not about where the drain were thank you. What is the thickness of the top of the B pillar ( 74 and earlier is the same size and 75 and newer is thicker for the striker catch for new thicker hard doors). Same question does it have the threaded hole for the eyelet for the safety strap? How many footman loops on the tailgate. Barn doors in 72 removed the middle one. My 73 only has four but believe is was a new OEM replacement since it was black not orange like the vehicle.

Thanks for the post. The attached pick of your 40 has the triangular pieces I mentioned in an earlier post. I'm most likely using the wrong discription but these are also on The 40 my brother is picking up.

Im away from my rig so cannot measure the b pillar
Yes it has the eyelets on the a pillars
4 footman loops on the tailgate

My rig did not come with bows or doors when I purchased it. I've been curious as to what doors came on the 75fst... Soft doors or hard doors?

Better tailgate pic. Tailgate is original to the truck

Your brothers looks like an Fst to me. As other have mentioned finding a 75 fst is very difficult/rare- nice find!!

Aren't these to hold the windshield in the down position? Should be standard on all FJ40's...

Those are on any windshield that had pads and hooks on the hood, hard top or soft top. Early hard tops until the mid sixties didn't have the pads or hooks but from then on they did with those triangular pieces. Thought you were talking about the channel that the top slides thru. OEM is one long piece, aftermarket were normally two shorter pieces to equal the length of the long one.

Another item to note on an fst is the spare tire carrier. An fst will be a little different as it has a cut out at the bottom to make room for one of the tailgate hinges.

US market always got soft doors with a soft top unless that changed in 75. Most other markets had hard doors with the soft tops. They also got the half hard and half soft ambulance doors. That is the reason the Paki bows have the extra bow in the back. US never had that bow.

The A piller eyelet holes are the dead give away. Definitely an fst.
Congrats!!
Thanks man. Only thing I can say is I led him to it, but Kevin @kmj64 dropped the coin. Actually another local MUD guy turned me on to it after buying a 60 from the guy. Better lucky than good as I always say:)
