3FE fuel injector replacement

I’m assuming this is the o-ring?
I'm told the big improvement comes from just new versus old injectors and though they're good they're about on par with new OEM units. Was that about your impression too? Think it was @Spike Strip that was telling me his experience.
Yeah I feel the same way. These engines, without a lot of other top end work, are not going to see any big improvements over stock conditions with just an injector swap. They may have better atomization than the single hole injectors but it’s not anything that translates to mind blowing power. Hahaha. But I’m happy with them, engine is happy most importantly.
I think you're on target with the reference to top end work. I would love to have a cylinder head overhaul with larger, 3-angled stainless valves, ported and extrusion honed, and finally send my extra cam to Delta for a regrind that would focus primarily on a balance of highway performance and economy. I think there's a lot more power to be freed up while still retaining the longevity and reliability of the 3FE.
But that's another expenditure/project/thread for another day....

it just seems like a lot of effort and money to pick up only a couple HP.I guess I'm funny
You know it might very well be, but I still think otherwise; that it could be a much more powerful engine than in its current state with some work. There's no denying that the 3FE is a damn reliable engine, and if that reliability could be maintained while gaining extra power without losing what little economy there is, it'd be worth it to me. The real proof either direction will come from someone actually doing it.I really don’t

And another aspect to it is the "because I can" factor. Granted not the smartest approach to a lot of things, but those "because I can" experiments are where I've learned the most with my mechanical and electrical skills.
do you still have these injectors? I got them too but man something is not right, rig is running real bad, bunch of unburnt fuel is coming out of the tailpipe.
Yup! Still running them and the motor runs well. Power and MPG are what I would expect for an old 3FE.
How long have you been running yours?
Just got them , but man it’s idling really rough wonder if one of them is not working properly.
Make sure all the seals are good and no leaks as well as checking the electrical connections to the injectors. Replacing the injectors on the 3FE definitely introduces some dangers since you have to replace critical seals on the injectors AND have to manipulate the old electrical harness (baked old hardened wires).
Ahhh that makes sense. Imma open her up again next weekend and make sure the seals are ok. Definitely buying new connectors and swap them out. I know some of them are toast and broke some tabs lol
Yeah that is super common. The plastic is so brittle at this point. Thankfully they are common enough and easy to find new replacement connectors if needed. Would love to use some of my good silicon insulated wires to build an entire new injector subharness like I did for my fuel pump. I might have to look into this if the connectors and terminals can still be sourced, or if I go the Osidetiger injector route, install those connectors and terminals directly onto a new subharness so that adapter pigtails wouldn't be needed.
Haven't bothered ordering new injectors myself yet, since I've been prioritizing other projects and the engine is still running fine.
