@suprarx7nut

I have a later (2006) Lx that has the laser cut key. I haven't seen anyone that has cut a stand alone key without the integrated fob. I've seen some listed as compatible but not ever cut. I might be the guinea pig...

Mine is like this: 03 - 09 UNCUT LEXUS GX470 LX470 GX LX470 SUV MASTER KEY REMOTE FOB HYQ1512V K470

@Kurt Hendricks Ah, I see. I have many folks with Lexus vehicles that have used my original separate fob shell. I think this is the common approach: 89786-60150 - Genuine Lexus TRANSMITTER, TRANSPONDER KEY SUB .

Also note, my new design with the integrated key would allow you to just put your existing laser cut blade into my shell, just like OEM.

@suprarx7nut

Thanks for the P/N for that key! My goal is to keep my original as a backup, and have a fobless transponder key that will work on its own, and a separate fob of your manufacture. Is there a place where I can buy the guts? And can the dealership program it separately?

@Kurt Hendricks My recommendation is to buy a used one on Ebay. You can buy cheap, new imitations, but I wouldn't bother. I'd prefer an old, worn out (but still functional) OEM one over a new imitation. You can clean them up really well with a light degreaser and a soft bristle brush.

Depsite the descriptions I think those will work on 100 series vehicles.

I've never been so excited to receive a small piece of sheet metal. Titanium sheet will be cut Monday and first batch of plastic parts will arrive in about 1-2 weeks.

Here's the latest and final prototype. This shows plain black with no special backing. The back piece is inexpensive and I'll offer variations at a later date. For now, everything will be a clean back with no logo or writing. PM if you really want something special. So far, nobody's been dying for text or a logo. I'll offer the typical colors as seen on the original YotaMD fob shells.

Could you have the word Toyota printed on the back?

I'm going to need one of these new ones for my LX key. Do you provide the small hex screw to hold the blade in? I had to drill mine out when it wouldn't come unscrewed to replace the battery.

I wasn't interested, but now I am! That looks awesome!

Thanks, that means my teaser shots were worth the effort!

I could. I've got the Toyota text in CAD. I'll offer that as an option for a small fee.

I do provide all the hardware and a wrench for install. You would just need to ensure your blade threads are intact enough to thread a new fastener into the blade. That screw hole in the blade is a part of what holds the key firmly in place.

Ok, I just drilled deep enough to remove the head from the screw, i'll have to see about getting the rest of the screw out once I get your fob. When do you think those will be ready and up on the site for order?

Buy Now link will go up once I get Titanium parts back from waterjet. Perhaps as early as this evening/tomorrow. I want to be sure there are no surprises with the titanium parts before I take anyone's payment. Lead times will be about 2 weeks right out of the gate with lower lead times after that.

Lookin good. Its important to never underestimate key awareness.

Will these be priced similar to eternity keys?

i am interested in the integrated and separate fob - 1 of each, ping me on how to order them.

Pricing will be 20-40% LESS than the eternity keys and, IMO, the product is superior because it's made by a 'mud member! :)

...and plus... titanium. ;)

The separate option is live on my site now. YotaMD.com - Products - Toyota and Lexus Key Fob . The new integrated option has a page on my site, but the buy now option is still on hold. Gotta get those sweet titanium parts in my hot little hands before I let this roll out!

This mod has saved me a beatdown and is well worth it. It literally should be the first thing you do when you buy an LC.

Toyota manufactures as well as anyone, but occasionally design ideas just go South. This is one that slipped past final inspection and should have never been down.

Save yourself the beating and get a new key fob.

I want one!

I met with the waterjet guy today, but parts won't be cut for a few days. I've got a bunch more titanium on the way and I'm confident enough with the waterjet process to start sales. I'll update again when it's live. Should be tonight.

I agree! If you didn't notice yours slowly cracking and actually had it snap apart out in no-man's land without pliers or something that could be a really bad day. I'm not sure an average person could get it to crank if the blade snapped out of the plastic. That's a lot of torque on a small surface...

x2! Any chance you could put the Lexus "L" logo on there?

I'm debating it. The backs are cheap so I may end up offering the custom backs at a later date. A few people have asked for the Lexus L and the TEQ logo, as well as "TOYOTA". While the parts are cheap though, stocking 4 versions of 6+ colors becomes an exercise in inventory control better left to Best Buy and Walmart. Especially if you guys buy these like your response seems to indicate you will... haha. I'll have enough trouble staying on top of the various colors until I establish an inventory flow.

w.

Had my spouse break one while getting into the car on a road trip to the Florida Panhandle. Groceries in the car, 90 degrees out and no locksmith in site. Luckily I had left the re-fobbed key on the desk at home and a friend could overnight it, but had that gone differently, I would have been screwed.

Toyota blew it on this key design, it''s not optional. Do it or take a chance of disaster.
