Many of those turbos were .48 but im not sure of the compressor. the 40, 45 (rare) and 50 trim map well. The 60 not as well. I do believe the 50trim is quite efficient at high boost as well.

What are your max egt pulling hills? I did the snowshed in 4th 85kmh but egts rose to 1200F pre turbo. I guess that was ok but too high for me. Intercooling and other stuff will bring it down a bit.

i spoke to Geoff nice guy, i am sending my camshaft and lifters to him. he said he has only done this for the 2h not the 12ht, but i think the camshaft of a 2h is same spec as a 12ht. he will grind the camshaft and re crown the lifters. i do not mean to steal your thread i will do the remaining updates on my thread. https://forum.ih8mud.com/expedition-builds/236987-building-landcruiser-overland-expedition-21.html

i just want to thank you very much.

Ahh no problem, glad to help. Ask for Geoff. He is the only employee.

!!!! you posted suff about your truck in my thread??? WTF biatch!
AHH its all good.

Glad to hear your getting a cam from him. He does a very quality job. Its not like a mass production shop. He takes pride in his work and is quite intelligent. Not many guys would take the time to try and maximize a little old diesel that most people have never even heard about.

its starts super low, 1200 rpms im at 5psi under load, but it does vary depending on which gear and hill. between 2000 and 2500 rpm usually between 15 and 23

thats cruisin 130kph on the hwy, usually 25-2600 rpm. not many people pass me. i've put almost 100,000kms on this turbo setup. i've blown one throttle body/ intake gasket. i'll try to take video but have no you tube account. not hard to set up, i know.

the pump has been turned 2 full turns from stock, never gone all the way. intercooler would be good for the mountain climbs and trailer pulls. coming soon.

i've held it at that boost and rpm for 4 hours straight before. long road trips, not a problem.

How much does your truck smoke before the turbo spools? I have increased fuel 3/4 and I see a bit black smoke "off the line". With 2 full turns does it not belch black?

just when i start the truck, hahaha, never start it when someones walking down the side walk lol. i've had friends follow me and they couldn't see anything??? im sure theres a bit. not like no 7.3 ford though. those things puke it out.

let you know when im coming down to vic, we'll hook up. your truck sounds sweet.

that amount of boost is wicked....I'm running up to 19psi or so WOT in my 2H. Its got plenty of go so I'll leave it there. I do know that I have room temp wise. I can't hit 1100 pre turbo even lugging long hills. I I turned the fuel up more I might get some more boost too. I'd like to do an intercooler before then though.

Ahh no problem. The sought after Taurus fan is the 3 wire that has a low and high speed. Currently I have low on a thermostat and a manual high for hills and an off for all those rivers my wife and kids wont let me cross.
My rad is only a 3 core but will be a 4 core shortly. I cant say enough good things about this fan. Super cheap, simple fit and can move air like the stock fluild clutch fan.

It has been interesting cus this winter has been particularly cold and I notice my motor gets to temp much quicker and stays there where as before the temps would be slow to build and would drop at lights quite fast with the stock fan, even with that little curtain thingy pulled down.

Ohh and the electric fan almost never switches on, even in town.

I got lucky and found a guy who had several variants already pulled that I could choose from just off craigslist. If I remember correctly he said it was a late 90s Taurus. This would be the fully loaded model with lots of power options with AC. Pirate4x4 and other sites have gobs of info and detailed installs and stuff. I would start there. Im sorry I dont have a model number for ya.

effin awesome. Just read the entire thread. good s%it

still waiting for a video!!

Curious, how would you measure back pressure?

Run a steel or copper line from the exhuast manifold then when it's far enough away to stay cool fit your normal gauge sender or line to a boost gauge. Depending on the gauge you might need an additional restriction. I originally just put a shot of grease up the line on the gauge end, it damped the needle chatter out nicely.
