You can have this size for 15" rime , why did you chose to use pricey 16" rimes
Because I have disk brakes , my previous wheels were 16" and I wasn't sure if the 15's would have worked. This is all still new to me so I'm sure this won't be the last time I make an expensive decision for the same results....

These are tough to come by right now but these are brand new and finally available just a few months back.

Not mine, but drooling over this:

Picked my kendas up on eBay earlier this year for about $240 a piece. I know they can still be had around that price.

Still have some old 33x9.50 BFGs on the trailer. That msrp on the Kenda is absurd. 33x10.50’s on the 40, my cost $275. Kenda missed the price point otherwise you’d see more.

My set of 5 was $219, which was about $20/each higher than Walmart but it was worth it for me to avoid being at Walmart. Out the door price was $261 each

Have some old BFG AT 33x9.50X15s as rollers on my FJ45.

These are the old original flat springs and have clearance issues.

I have a trailer made from a early Hilux pickup. Guessing between 72 and 75. Currently have 31X10.50X15s on Camry rims. Had 14" white spokes with rotted tires when I bought it. Obvious you changed the axle. What axle did you use? Have a few FJ40 axles considered using. Clearance lights are higher on.mine. Appears yours was using 40 series reflectors where the clearance lights go. You still have the reflectors?

Yep. Found it in the Missouri woods and had a 4” drop axle added so I could keep 33’s and not have various spares. The tongue extends also. Then, I sourced some repro sr5 pick up bed lights for the tail lights and marker lights. It pulls nice. The reflectors were cheap Napa junk held on with a rusty screw. Kansas trailer ‘40’ plate 🍒

Drop axle also changed the lug pattern to LC pattern thru 80 series. That's my goal is match the spare pattern to all my vehicles except my 2nd gen Sequoia. The drop axle is an interesting idea. Primary use for the trailer is hauling between homes. On a two track trail no diff dragging would be nice.

Have some cheap aftermarket tail lights but the OEM ones are still in decent shape. I like the protection Toyota did to protect the back of the tail lights inside the bed. Just wish the woman I bought it from would have left the original green paint instead of using house paint thinking it would look better parked next to the garage.

Planning out re-rebuild of my 76 and would appreciate comments on 2-2.5" suspension vs 4" from folks have that installed them

I'm leaning towards the 4" with 33" skinnies

Talk me out of it....

If it sees trails with bigger rocks and water crossing, 4" no doubt. Both of my 40s had 4" with skinny 33s and 35s. 4" with skinny 35s is the way.

If it only sees pavement and fireroads then go lower unless you're a taller guy (or girl).

The only caveat is if you want to look cooler, then 4" with 35s is the best and still easy to drive/parallel park in cities.

I run a 4" Skyjacker lift with 33-10.50s on stk wheels and it looks good and handles great. The 4" lift offers the option of going to 35s easily. At some point, I'll be going to 35s, I'm just not sure on the width yet.
