Wow, they are expensive too. The only one I would remotely consider would be the TSL Radial.

Then you might as well get the 9.50 x 33. Pretty sure the TSL Radial comes in that size.

Edit: No apparently it doesn't. 9.50 x 31 but not 33.

Toyo MT ended up being nice and tall.

15 x 5.5” wheels
New tread
32#

height 32.25”
Width about 10” to outside of sidewall

This is really interesting. So here are my 33 x 9.50 Super Swamper TSLs on stock OEM 15” wheels on Pikachu (1977 FJ40). 32 PSI and paved surface.

Height is just over 31.25”. Wow.

@jim land @wngrog

Does not surprise me. Damn Swampers :)

over my year and years of dealing with Swampers the only thing that was consistent was the fact that they were rarely true to size.......or round

I will skip the size thing as it has been covered for my 33x10.50 KO2s on 60 series wheels. I will add some observations in the "how they are holding up" category.

I have put exactly 30,819 miles on these tires as of today. My 62 is 6,000 lbs as it sits, and 6,800 loaded for trips (roughly 1/3 of those miles). That includes commuting, a couple cross country trips, lots of wheeling back in Washington, wheeling at 2 Solid Axle Summits, and the SSS. I also have a Spartan rear locker which accelerates tire wear.

I measured them with a tread depth gauge tonight and got 10, 10.5, 10, 10, 8.0 (32nds). They start out life at 15/32nds.

This works out to about 4,700 miles per 32nd for each installed tire.

I have done a 5-tire rotation 3 times since install, at 8,419 miles, 16,897 miles, and 25,453 miles.

If I were to run them down to 3/32" of tread depth (the wear bars), I can expect to replace them at about 69,800 miles (using all 5 tires). If I only had 4 tires this would become 56,000 miles. Obviously off road use may dictate replacement sooner, but it's a point of comparison.

Here is the best tire:

I run KO2s on my work 4Runner. The last set I sold with 65,000 miles and they had 6/32nd.

Dude I sold to is still driving on them.

No doubt the hands down winner in the 33x10.50 category.

Ok, here we go:

Both tires are 33x10.50-15” 32psi measurements taken with the tires mounted on the front a stock FJ60 with OE wheels

General Grabber X3 (0 miles)
Height - 32”
Section width (overall width) - 9 3/4”
Tread width - 8 3/8”

BFG KM2 (5000 miles)
Height - 31 7/8”
Section width (overall width) - 10 1/4”
Tread width - 7 5/8”

As you can see, the X3 is only slightly taller than the KM2. Interestingly, the KM2 has a wider section width but the X3 has a wider tread width. To me, this makes the X3 look taller and skinnier. they seem to fit the OE wheel width better, too. I also noticed that the X3’s are considerably heavier than the KM2’s. I’m not sure if that’s good or bad but just an observation.

Height measurements were taken mounted on the truck.

Awesome. Thanks. That puts them a hair smaller than the Toyo and Maxxis and they look great.

I don't know if you found your tires, but many more options with 16 inch wheels. I found the 10.5 width tires crowned too much on the stock 15 x 6 inch wheels. And there's an ideal 16 x 7 wheel from 70 series trucks that Onur knows about. These are 255/85/16 on 8 inch wheels and a subtle change in look. Just at 33. Cooper ST/MAXX. Sorry if this is out of context.

I’ve also gone down this road. More info here in this thread.

Yes. I agree. The 255/85-16 is the best size IMO
