Are 285s really that much larger than 275s? I understand 275s can be fitted without any rubbing or modifications.
Jotted down the specifics for various sizes. Chose the 285/70 due to interest in no rubbing. Are 285s really that much larger than 275s? I understand 275s can be fitted without any rubbing or modifications.
Jott21 said here he went with 275s Mickeys because it was the largest on terms of diamater and no rubbing.
For anyone considering removing the running boards on the LX700, it took me about 40 minutes total needing only a small screw driver to pop some pins and a 12 millimeter socket. Super easy and the light is retained which is nice. Looks 10x better without them and is easier to get in.![]()

DT says those are 33.43'', which is pretty close to your notes on the KO3s (traditionally run smaller) 285s. Hope no rubs. Fitting something bigger than stock size in the spare is another story...

Did end up getting a matching spare?First impressions:
-Typical AT quiet hum. Like it, feels like I'm coming home after rigs from my childhood on having either MT's or AT's.
-slightly firmer ride, but drive train clunks and transmission missteps are pleasantly dampened
-feels like I'm in a landcruiser again. Tall, inertia, presence.
-definitely the size that should have come stock. No rubbing anywhere with regular driving in N, H1, or H2.
-12% decrease in speedometer. 70mph reading is 78-79 in actual speed.
-wish I'd upgraded sooner.
Nice! So, no rubbing at all even backing in full lock turn to either right or left and in Access height? I imagine this is the worst-case scenario for possible rubbing.First impressions:

No matching spare. Have the stock 33 which will do in a pinch short term.Nice! So, no rubbing at all even backing in full lock turn to either right or left and in Access height? I imagine this is the worst-case scenario for possible rubbing.
Wow. 70mph to 79mph in real life is a LOT. Gotta be careful when road tripping.
How about the spare?
I went down a rabbit hole in understanding inflation pressures and load carrying capability of LT tires vs the GVWR.Going to let some air out tomorrow. Currently at 45-50psi, going to try 40. I think they need a bit more than the factory recommended 33psi due to size and E rating.

In my experience, the litmus test with Toyotas/Lexus for rubbing is the lowest height possible, backing up and turning the wheels full lock - left and right. If no rubbing in those conditions no rubbing at all.No rubbing at all in normal. No rubbing in access though I haven't been really aggressive. Will take it off road soon and put it through its flexing paces and see what I can get to rub.
Do they fit without rubbing?Decided to take my new tires back and get some a little bigger...View attachment 4120952
Had to trim a bit. No fenders in the front anymore. Rear window glass wasn't tenable. But now I've got continuous open air, very comfortable.Do they fit without rubbing?
Closest these come is the front little wind screens, about three hairs of daylight between the tires and those little buggers. In my experience, the litmus test with Toyotas/Lexus for rubbing is the lowest height possible, backing up and turning the wheels full lock - left and right.
