Closest these come is the front little wind screens, about three hairs of daylight between the tires and those little buggers.
That's great to hear. Seems then the KO3s at 285/70/18 configuration are the biggest size one could go with the stock OEM OT Wheels and have zero rub. This might be my next option once the Toyos are spent. It is just a shame these are E-rated and will no doubt affect the cloud-like ride the Toyos bring - though, at the same time, if you are off-roading near rocks, you might get a somewhat pucker effect having the Toyos on the softer side.

It's a bit firmer, but it places the ride back solidly in Land Cruiser territory. I like it. More stable, less tossing back and forth. Difference between evening slippers and hiking boots.

Any more pics or video of the Thule roof bars? Thanks!
Glad to get you any photos you want - just let me know? Cant hear them even with the sunroof open and basically mounted centerline at the front most and rear most "dot" of the 3 dots for each factory mount.... I keep a little extra spread for surfboards / ski boxes so that sits about 33 inches apart. My hearing is also warped from 10 plys and a rhinorack previously and I think the stock stereo is great so, others experience might differ :-)

I assume that this is in normal or comfort mode, right? What happens when you switch to the Sport modes? I ask because the Cadillac-level smoothness the suspension delivers in comfort probably offsets the harshness of the E-rate, but curious to know what happens when everything is firmed up by the sport modes - not like I am planning to carve any canyons but just out of curiosity.

I finally got the Icon wheels and Falken tires installed. I think it is going to take some time for the look to settle in for me. Definitely looks more aftermarket, and I tend to think the stock look is pretty nice.

I'm a little disappointed that somehow the new +40mm offset wheels seems to be causing even more rubbing issues than the stock wheels did with the same 285/70R18 tires.

I had convinced myself that going with the 33.6-34.0" tires would prevent any rubbing issues. Wrong.

For those who have had to do some heating/molding, is it fairly easy to push the liner/mud flap in so that the back of the tire isn't rubbing?

Any suggestions on how to address the UCA rubbing?View attachment 4075607View attachment 4075608

Did you finally solve the rubbing? I think it is because the Falkens run a bit larger than the KO3s for example. At 285/70/18 the Falkens are a true 34, while the KO3s are at 33.7 - which I understand @Docyota was able to fit in the OEM wheels without any rubbing. Pretty amazing that 0.3 inches can make that difference.

Didn't even get to use the bike but but got a good scratch on the hatch from the bike carrier.

That’s great to hear. I’ve been debating between the ones you have and the evo edge (non hang over ones). Thanks for sharing.

I was particularly interested in close up photos of how the mount to the flush rails. Do they use rubber padding and do they clamp so hard that they could damage the rails?

With the ridiculous amount of sensors and constant warning about everything, you would think Toyota\Lexus would have figured out how to make sure the hatch doesn't open if it is being blocked by something.

How is backing up with the bike on the back? If you forget to disable the parking sensors, does the vehicle violently slam on the brakes when trying to reverse with the bike on the back? The 250 and GX550 both do that and sometimes does is even when the stuff is disabled.

The seats of the mounts are a big chunk of rubber, and the metal clamps which hold the seat down are rubberized. I have been messing with my set a lot and it hasn't done anything to the rails.

When i had my cargo hitched, it does beep and slam on the break if you don't disable the parking sensor.

In fairness, it was completely my fault. The 1up bike rake was somewhat stuck. When i tried to change its postion, it swung forward and hit the liftgate.

It does violently slam brakes if you dont disable the parkassist. Its easy to disable and once disabled, it remains off thankfully.

Looks more like a self-inflicted wound.

It is also worth pointing out that all these sensors can be adjusted for sensitivity. I have had my OT now for about six months and can only remember 2 or 3 times the car slammed the brakes in a situation I had under control.

Once when I was about to hit a small curb in a parking lot - I was planning to just go over it anyway since the car is capable of much more. The other time, I was backing up and it sensed my wife standing in the back, at a safe distance. Again, sensitivity adjustment would probably take care of those instances.

I, for one, prefer to err on the cautious side. Yes, it is annoying when it happens, but man when you are distracted with a work/family call backing up from the driveway and it slams and avoid a collision or, even worse, you running over a kid or a pet (like some horror stories you see in the news) you will surely be grateful for it.
