Common
Best to ensure they create a case in the tech system.
The only things I’ve found that mitigates it is:
1. Set PCS to min distance
2. It’s worse in sport modes (it must be torque throttle back settings in the transmission)
3. Light pedal input vs flooring it

The above make it better but it’s the only real drawback I see in my rig. I hit them up to create a tech case every time.
Yes, same issue here, especially in Sport or Sport+. I agree, it seems very dangerous, especially if you're making a left turn with oncoming traffic.

Say you're in a situation where you slow down to a slow speed, such as slowing down for a red light and it turns green.

Your speed is below 10km/h (6MPH) then you press the accelerator and you get... NOTHING. A slow seemingly eternal pause before the transmission engages and moves the vehicle forward. Pressing a little harder does nothing other than make the jolt a little harder.

So many instances of this and it can be downright dangerous in some situations.

Dealership told me that they tested a new one off the showroom floor and it does the same, condition: normal (??!?!?!!!)

Am I the only one with this issue?
This has happened to me a few times. I thought my engine might be giving up.

Both times it happened I was pulling slowly up to make a right turn out of my daughter's school parking lot into morning traffic. Not a good feeling.

Yeah its definitely happened to me too. The dead pedal or power kill. Its the transmission tuning, probably something for mpg improvement in the lab. They need to start exposing these enviroscams for what they are (if that is the case).

I think it's probably the combination of drive by wire, turbo lag, and trying to mix the electric, ICE, and turbo inputs to get a 6000lb vehicle to act like a Porsche occasionally. I've chilled out my driving and tried to think like a landcruiser driver again, and I almost never have the "eternal second" lag.

In the 600 is a combination of multiple systems causing the lag.
Pre collision is part of it (which is why the effect is reduced when you set it to minimum distance)
Transmission tuning is part of it (gear selection responsiveness)
Torque converter/throttling back torque (assuming this for longevity)

Dead pedal is the only gripe I have as I absolutely love this thing (now that I have 650 miles range with the FK aux tank)

All solvable so long as each time you service your rig you specifically request that a tech case be opened up. I'm going in for my next scheduled appointment in a month or so and will do it again.

Ford doesnt have this issue.

I cant speak to the tundra, Ram 1500 turbo 6, or the nissan armada.

Edit ‘Ram’ not dodge

It's going to get someone hurt one day if they don't fix it. Nothing like trying to make a turn and sitting still in the street with oncoming traffic.

I had this happen to me in GX550. There is a TSB regarding the issue, so it seems Toyota is working on it.

I have not had this issue in the LX7.

I think it would be worth clarifying that folks having this issue drive the LX600, not the 700. At least, it does not happen to my 700 either. The electric motor more than enough kicks in to bridge the turbo lag and I get instant throttle - not like an EV, of course, but quite punchy. As a comparison, I feel that my 200 V8 lagged much more than the 700.

I have had zero incidents of lag what so ever on the LX700h. The electric has been instant in any drive mode. As much as I like my non-hybrid Cayenne, the turbo fill of a hybrid really smooths things out. To echo MRego based on my OCD reading of all things LX over the last 12 months, it sounds like the 600 has some turbo fill, start/stop, and safety setting which cause instances of dead pedal.

Its not turbo lag its a tuning issue.

Its really noticable on an uphill having to accelerate around 2-6mph. Its a delay because the transmission is confused.

Alright, let me share my personal take on the Lc300 after +2 years of ownership. I'll only address my rants but also the workaround the issues for general benefit.

Comfort & Usability
  • Ventilated seats: fan noise is loud and distracting. Sometimes gets to my head on longer drives.
  • Camera view button: awkwardly placed behind the steering wheel. LC200 had it much better near the cluster. LX600 has a smarter setup and it seems to be not an issue for RHD markets.
  • Front camera cover: weak and easily damaged. Mine got chipped just from normal use over 2 years. I PPF’d it, but too late.

  • Speed warning at 120 km/h (75 mph): completely blocks fuel/trip data. Really annoying in the GCC where highways legally go up to 140 km/h.
  • 360° camera system: feels outdated. Shame, because I think the hardware is decent. The real problem is Toyota’s poor software, which they still haven’t fixed in 2026 models.
  • Auto Hold turns automatically off every time you turn off the car.
Air Conditioning & Cooling
  • AC performance weaker vs LC100/200. I currently drive both LC200/300 and used to own LC100. The older generations were noticeably better.I know this point may trigger some but hear me out. The AC cooling performance is good, but in my region, LCs are known to "best in class" when it comes to that and I don't believe the LC300 carried this legacy unfortunately. Above 40°C (104°F), the LC300 starts struggling, while the 200 keeps strong airflow and cooling.
  • V35A-FTS fan clutch noise: excessive in hot weather even under light load. I support the idea of mechanical fans for off-road reliability, but Toyota should’ve tuned it better. Sounds like a turbine, kills performance, and feels unnecessary. Aftermarket fixes already exist, which says a lot. I think Toyota should have tuned it for selective markets where this is actually needed. Perhaps a modded thermostat design or even have an active fan on the intercoolers vs the current passive solution (perhaps cheaping out)

Safety & Driver Assistance (2022–2024 models)

PCS (Pre-Collision System):
  • Overreacts to pavements/bricks as “objects.”
  • Slams brakes when reversing slowly near cars. Happened to me holding coffee… you can imagine the mess.
  • As @Joe T mentioned, it cuts throttle input when it happens.. so if you are living in a region where roundabouts are common.. if this get triggered (which happened to me quite often) it will leave you stuck for 1–2 seconds in the middle of the roundabout. Nearly got rear-ended because of this.
  • At least you can disable PCS permanently, though you’re stuck with a warning light.

Other safety systems

MTS
  • Sand mode is ok for normal sand cruising/overlanding.. but cripples the car going up to sand dunes. I found that keeping the car at H4 and S+ is significantly better for going uphill than MTS. The only thing that worries me is that we had the RSCA disable button in the LC200. Hence, I'm not sure what will happen if i go beyond the 45 degrees in a sand dune with "street driving modes".. like does it know I'm off-roading hence the side airbags doesn't need to be triggered :) .. it doesn't sound very assuring :) (LC/LX)

Child/Family Practicality
  • Rear console fan controls: no child lock. Kids can mess with them anytime, which drives me crazy. (LC/LX)
  • Child seat fitment: bulky seats don’t fit well with rear entertainment screens in the way. It’s so annoying we now use the LC200 when the child seat is needed. (LC/LX)
Infotainment & Tech

  • AC controls stuck on-screen (2022–24): takes up valuable space. Out of 12.3", I only get ~8" usable for CarPlay. Fixed in 2025, but frustrating for earlier buyers. (Lc300)
  • No wireless CarPlay/Android Auto (2022–24): I had to buy an aftermarket dongle. Toyota finally added it in 2025, but feels like too little too late. (LC300)
  • Premium lighting package excluded from LC300 GRS trim. Toyota’s excuse was the metal skid plate, but the lights are actually super useful off-road. I retrofitted them myself since wiring is already pre-installed. Should’ve been standard. See below

ToyotaConnect App
  • Remote start shuts off when you unlock the car.
  • No AC controls.
  • Frequent “recalibration” prompts.
  • Allows remote lock but not unlock. Honestly, the app feels like a tick-box gimmick. When I compare it to German cars or Tesla apps, Toyota’s effort is embarrassing.
  • Not sure how other regions have different implementations
Other Known Issues / Fixes

Few things to add to the list

  • Heated Seats: not sure if anyone can relate in the lx but for lc300, heated seats are not that hot in cold weather...the highest setting in the lc is equivalent to lowest setting in European cars.
  • Memory seats buttons do not illuminate. I have accidentally pressed the reset button and incorrectly overwritten my saved profiles (many times) as i can't locate the correct buttons to press. <Lc300>
  • Rear screen infotainment screen Bluetooth headset support. I just did a long trip with friends and got to experience the backseat well. Got to say MiraCast works really well in the rear OEM screens (especially if you are using an Android phone). The only issue is that if you are using Android Auto/Apple Car Play, it won't allow you to connect a Bluetooth headset. Its still not a big deal as you can still use wired connection.
  • I noticed a squiggle pattern on side flares/modeling of my LC300 GRS which is also evolving in the other side as well.. this is not due to physical damage but I believe UV light exposure (which is expected as cars are meant to be driven outside!). plastic restorer products does solve this temporarily

Annoyance: there are no lights in the stalk for lighting control. So in the dark, which is exactly when I use lights, I can't see the controls. Genius!

Just had my third squeak. It was so so so loud. I know someone on this thread has a TIS login, don't post the TSB (cause thats a T&C violation) just let us know the jist and if it exists. I bought a 2 day pass last week and didn't see it for the LX, I think I saw it for the GX.
Just came back from my second oil change at 5kmiles. Mentioned the break squeal to my SA and first she said it was due to moisture and Houston being so humid. I was like huh? come again? She offered me to resurface the rotors, but it might not work. Since it would take about 2 hours to do that, I decline and say will keep observing and maybe schedule a drop off if it gets worse.

When the car was ready, she says there is a bulletin about it but it is for a squeal in the front breaks when going forward. They should change the front pads and rotors free of charge. Unfortunately, parts are on back order and my name was put in a list of about 300 people (including GXs).

I really can't say if the noise comes from the front breaks or rear, but what I can say is that it only happens to me when backing up, not going forward. Now I am just on wait and see mode.

Did you set your heated seats to +2 in the infotaiment system. You can add to the default setting which helped my get much warmer.

Something happened today during a 100 mile trip to my son's ski race. I now have the most incessant rattle happening in passenger headliner or dash. I can't pinpoint it but it's 10x worse than the sunroof one ive had for a long time.

I might go nuts.

Do you have something store in the glasses holder?

Also check your windshield cowl for small twigs, nuts or even leafs falling from trees. A month or so ago I began to hear a little rattle. Looked everywhere thinking it was a trim piece or something cracking and couldn’t make it stop. Read somewhere here about things accumulating in the cowl that could make a rattle sound as if coming from inside. Went to check and my cowl was full of leaves and small acorns from a tree a sometimes park under at work. Cleaned all and rattles be gone. Dead silence again. The car is so well insulated that you will hear anything. Might be a blessing or a curse. And, yes if you have something in the sunglass holder it will make a sound every time I make a turn.

^This^
experienced that myself.
