This is my personal 80 Series project. It has taken a couple years and is nearly done but I wanted to start a thread now anyway.

The project:
1. Disassemble vehicle: remove doors, tailgate and hatch.
2. Strip paint to bare metal.
3. Use donor body from A-pillar back, keeping existing firewall.
4. Mount donor body on rotisserie.
5. Spray color-matched 6H9 bed liner underneath floor.
6. Delete sunroof using the old roof panel for patch.
7. Delete licence plate indentation area on tailgate and fabricate a smooth panel.
8. Delete turn signal lights in valance.
9. Customize BIO bumpers and sliders, and color-match to vehicle 6H9 in eggshell sheen.
10. Fabricate custom roof rack specifically for a Roofnest tent.
11. Build custom grille and headlight housings with 7" round headlights.
12. Delete ABS
13. Delete smog system.

This 80 being my personal vehicle, I only have time to work on this late nights or weekends. In the early stages of this project, I decided to get some easier things done and gain a little momentum. Starting with the front inner fenders that needed to have some rust repair worked out, and the core support. The air filter box was fun to clean up and paint too.

This is the licence plate indentation area delete. The part I fabricated turned out nice. I used an old 60 series door cup for the hatch handle access opening. My licence plate will mount on the bumper tire swing-out.

I am using the roof off the old green body for the sunroof opening patch. I wanted the ribs to extend to the front unlike the factory roof panels that did not have a sunroof.

This turned out nice. The arc of the entire roof changes from front to back, so it is off a little bit but you really can't see it. Otherwise I love the look with the ribs being continuous from front to back. The front ribs in the patch panel are actually from the rear of the donor roof where they taper off by the hatch.

I rebuilt the calipers. After sand blasting, I used an epoxy caliper paint that was mixed in my paint color 6H9. Also, I painted the hubs two-tone to match my wheel color 153 and body color 6H9.
