Well there was a part of my old carburetor that was broken, but that was for cold starts. Not sure what it's called but it has a coil inside it that heats up once you turn the car on and gradually opens up the choke. So that part wasn't working properly. I think I'll just keep the old one too, just for emergencies? For much, much later use again someday. This problem was certainly a pain in the ass to figure out and diagnose. Luckily you guys were able to help me and give me ideas and point me in the right direction. Here's hoping I can finally put it to rest here in the next few days. I'm excited to get some new things for my truck since my engine will be properly running now.

I'm not quite sure what the emission laws are here either, but I'm moving to San Diego soon, so I'll need to know what those are instead. Partly why I wanted to get my engine back up and running to 100 percent. I'll be driving across the country. For now I just have a rubber plug blocking off the EGR valve. I really don't know what I'll be able to do once I'm in San Diego, isn't California more strict on their emission laws and regulations?

But on the side note, I've already ended up buying a different tachometer cluster which I believe is for an SR5 Toyota originally. It shows RPM, MPH, oil pressure, battery voltage, heat and gas levels. I made sure it was from a 4 cylinder engine and once I receive it I'll need a new oil pressure sensor for the tachometer. Is there anything I should be aware of?

Also looking to get a Toolbox for my truck too! Might pick it up tomorrow.

Do you guys have anything to say about LCE? I was looking into maybe getting some headers, but I'm not entirely sure what all it will entail or what to expect while switching it out.

Oh and I got a new muffler too, nice and shiny now and not rusted through. I just really wanted to share what I was doing and what I've done so far with you guys.

Lce has some wonderful products but they are really expensive. IMHO a header is only worth it I'd you have a 2 1/4" exhaust system to free up the flow. Personally I think the stock manifolds from Toyota to have a good flow. Also what slowly opens when the truck gets warmer is the choke.

Okay great, good to know about the headers. I think I'll put those off now. I'm just looking for some possible ways to get some more power out of my engine.

So the coil that heats up after the car is on, is the choke?

Yes, it's an automatic choke.
