we came in from the Lake Tahoe side, I'm no expert on the trail that's forsure:) It was just my wife and I and a couple cups of coffee. We made it a little ways in but I remember thinking 35's would be really nice as I could hear a lot of sounds from below my rig:) With a group of 200's and good spotters I have no doubt we could tackle a bunch of the trail, I may throw some 35's on first:D

this is the staging area right before we headed up the trail..

There's no effin' way an IFS 200 is gonna make it up those steps.

After around 5:00, " you really close to your door. You didn't even f....n touch it." This gives you idea.

OK, I'll be the one to say it--

-Too much... Too narrow...

On the other hand...
Hmmm...
More mods...more mods...MORE MODS PLEASE! :hillbilly::steer:

Seriously though... This would severely limit who would...could...or even should go.
I'd like to see more info on the impact of vehicle width. Tacos and 4R's are skinny compared to 200's. That door-moment referenced in the video post is a perfect example. I don't mean to poo-poo. I just seriously think the 200 is too wide & needs more wheel travel.

I have completed the full Rubicon with my Pops years ago when I lived in Tahoe in his Lifted purpose built Wrangler and no way will a 200 survive the trip. Lots of tight turns and boulders that will takeout your entire rear bumper and destroy your doors. The 200 is not designed for this kind of trail, it's simply to big with poor departure angles. The LC is designed and built for adventure travel not bouldering

I would certainly take my 200 to the Rubicon... towing my 40 to go through it. There just are limits to what a 200 is built for, and at least based on what I've seen on videos, that trail isn't it. I'll ride with anyone though! :)

That said, if a no front travel LX 470 can make it, the 200 is only slightly wider so maybe there is a chance you'd make it...

that said I think I would definitely need to put 35s and a locker on the 40 for this one. I am not sure my 33x12.5s and the 8000m winch cover it :deadhorse:

I am locked with 35's. No doubt you'd want lockers. Not sure you'd necessarily need to upgrade the tires though as long as you have enough lift. I drove my previous 40 on 33's through all kinds of stuff and never really felt the need for 35's.

Might actually make sense to ship them and fly out. It will happen one day!

lets do it!

A winch is a must on the Rubicon for one major reason...rain. Those rocks become so slippery, my buddy had to winch out his D90. It's definitely a trail worth doing

We are all talking big now...when we get to those first giant boulders...we will be like "s%$" what were we thinking....

Oh...and ask Santa for a good CB or HAM radio and install for Christmas....and a drone...need more drones....

I have a lot more pics and videos in this post: Evolution of a Land Cruiser: My 80's build thread

Gotta say you guys are crazy to take a 200 on this trail unless you really do not care about how the truck looks. The lower parts of the doors and quarter panels will be destroyed. There are some parts which are even a tight squeeze for an 80.

And god spoke

And god spoke
Ha. More like Moses- warning us if the pestilence that will befall upon us should we chose to ignore the warning signs. (Figuratively and literally)

I'd be willing to pre-run the trail in a SXS (I'm sure I can rent one in the area), and see what I think of a 200 in the space.

I know the 200 series is not a rock-crawler, but the historic part of doing that trail is very compelling to me. I like the thought of breaking new ground-doing something with the truck that hasn't been done.

Are there risks? Hell yes. Possibly body damage? Yep. Can it be done? I think so, after pouring over the videos and knowing what our trucks can do.

I'd probably throw on 35's for the trip. The more people say it can't be done... the more I want to do it.
