Ok desert season is upon us and after my last trip to Ocotillo I decided to buy myself some tires.

2019 LC stock suspension on TRD BBS wheels 18x8 et60 no spacers.

Do I go for 285/70-18? Will it clear stock?
Or should I play it safe and go with 285/65-18?

Thanks for your opinions.

What is the meaning of this air compressor sitting on top of the engine? I always had an issue with cheap compressors over heating. I just figured out that by placing it directly over the fan while engine is running, it stays cool while filling the tires after a trail run.

i run ocatillo and glamis with my 275s

going to go down to 255 next year for my dessert running

Thanks for everyone’s feedback on tires. I switched from LT275/70/18 KO2 after I saw just how bad they were in wet conditions. (Hurricane Helene)

Switched to LT275/70/18 Cooper AT3 XLT. Much quieter on the road and has actual rain channels in the tire tread. Also saves 4lbs per corner in rotating mass.

There also seems to be some confusion if the Cooper AT3 XLT is 3-peak rated or not. Widths 275 and smaller are 3-peak rated with the stamp on the sidewall.

No rubbing on 2008 LX570. 33.2” tire

Nice! Just ordered the same tires from tire rack and putting them on the same wheels!

@gaijin - Good evening! Do you happen to have the RCTIP for Cooper Discoverer AT3 XLT E LT275/70/18 for the LX570?

I found the RCTIP for the LC200, but I remember reading where you said the LX570 RCTIP is different.

Thanks!

I also would like to know the proper RCTIP for a fresh set of 285/65/18 BFG AT TA KO3 I just installed on my 08’ 200.
All stock fresh set of LCA also while in there. Notice SLIGHT rub in full lock turning on mud flap.

Based on your OEM tires P285/60R18 114V with an RCTIP of 32psi Front / 34psi Rear:

The RCTIP (Recommended Cold* Tire Inflation Pressure) for those LT285/65R18 Load Range E KO3 tires on your 2008 LC200 is 41psi Front / 43psi Rear.

Don't forget to re-initialize your Tire Pressure Warning System.

*FYI, according to Toyota:

Tire Pressure vs. Tire Temperature

Tire temperature is dependent on “cold” tire pressure, driving distance and speed, ambient temperature and road surface temperature. As the temperature of the tire changes, air in the tire expands and contracts, changing the tire’s air pressure. The cold tire pressure for all Toyota models will vary and will need to be adjusted accordingly.

“Cold” tire pressure, as shown on the tire pressure label on our vehicles, is generally considered to be the pressure in a tire that has not been driven in the past 4 hours and has been parked outdoors.

I’m having issues getting the TPMS to accept the settings. New sensors scanned and cleared codes getting the blinking 3 times of the tire indicator then says checking for a while then throws a code.

Also @mceagle555 asked above me for some assistance and I didn’t want to hijack his question.

Thank you @gaijin

I previously had Toyo AT3 in P285/70r17. I had planned to go up to a 285/75 but I am taking a 1000 mile trip next week and didn’t have the necessary time to sort out fitment of a bigger size. My compromise was to get the Falken, which is running slightly larger than other brands.

I have wanted to put LTs on the vehicle for sometime. The SL Toyos were very soft; I was able to flex the sidewall just pushing with my thumb, even with the tire at 36 psi. The new tires have a slightly increased whirring noise at low speeds, but seem quieter on the highway. I assume the noise is due to the change to LTs, more aggressive tread pattern, and 18/32” tread depth. Road imperfections are more noticeable, but are far from harsh. Note that I do have Dobinsons MRA suspension, so I am able to adjust accordingly but have not done so yet. I was concerned about the weight of this tire, but the truck handles it like a champ. The increased weight is hardly noticeable, especially with the improved handling from the stiffer sidewalls. They seem well balanced and smooth

I am very happy with the decision both from a driving and aesthetic standpoint. I still have some size envy, but new tread plus slightly bigger diameter will do it for now. I am hoping to lower the front ride height soon, which should help as well.
what lift height are you set at with the dobinsons? I'm thinking of sizing down to a 285/70 from a 75, but I don't want it to look scrawny with my 2.5" lift.

I searched a lot of places for examples of this setup and had to piecemeal it together. So FYI for anyone who might be looking:

2013 LX570. 285 70 17 BFG KO3s on black Icon Vector 5 wheels. Neutral AHC height. Discount Tire installed them blacked out against my wishes, but I grabbed a picture before they corrected it to laces out.

Had to remove front wheel well mud flaps to address slight rubbing and cut the hanger bracket to fit the spare tire with the Icon wheels (remove alignment tabs, cut collar free & paint). I still need to heat mold and reinstall the mud flaps. But I’m super happy with the results so far.

Curious to understand why different pressures between front and rear? The OEM set up is all four corners same pressure no? Thx

No. The OEM pressure specs for the 2008 LC200 were for P285/60R18 114V tires with RCTIP's of 32psi Front / 34psi Rear.

This was the case for the 2008 LC200 only, the RCTIP went to 33F/33R from the 2009 model year.
