I swear on a daily basis that they don't have this old styling available for the US market, even more so that you cannot get Land Cruisers in diesel. Meanwhile, I'll keep pumping my V8 LC... At least I got my TAD/Strider SNG CC in the pocket!

By going to the 70 series rear axle, did you have to bump up to a 16" rim?

Looks alot like my pending project that my 16 yr old and I have undertaken. We, read(Dad) are refurbishing a 77 FJ45 (Can) from the frame up. I am researching swapping a 1PZ diesel and tranny out of, you guessed it, a mine truck! My plan is to swap the power steering as well. I am expecting a similar result as the 6 cyl you show in this thread. My frame is back from the blaster Tuesday when I will begin the mockup. apart from lots of fitment and re-fitment, it should slide right in! What do you recommend for a Hand brake setup? I would like to keep the under dash arrangement. PS am I off my flippin rocker to attempt this project? Paul

Pacer, a floor ebrake with a 70 series rear diff would be the best and easiest install.
no, you are not off your rocker, the PZ will be a beautiful engine in the 45. i have considered it quite a few times now.

Some 7* series(and 80 series) were sold with a 15 inch rim.The stud pattern and offset is all the same on a 7* until 1999.

They fit the HZJ75 disc and FF rear.I had 15 in rims on my 75 series ute when I bought it.

My '91 HDJ81 has FF rear w/ disks and came with 15's as well.

Many did, the HDJ81 (or early ones at least) have a different rear disc than the NA trucks to allow for the fitment of 15" wheels.

To me, this is a really uniquely build rig. Spend some time over the weekend to read the entire thread. How is the 1HZ with turbo holding up after all this years since the build finished?

During the trips to AZ, it was opportune times to calculate mpg. .. Didn't have an exact weight and can't take into account for high winds. This was not in controlled "scientific" conditions. So take all of the estimates with a grain of salt.

@ 75-80mph on flats, we were averaging roughly 15mpg. During one particular stretch with alot of uphills with a 1/4 tank refill between intervals, it was as low as 11mpg.

@ 65mph on flats, we were averaging better at almost 18-19mpg.

@ 55mph (rare) on flats, our best guess was 22+ mpg.

That's pretty good, actually. 25 MPG is too optimistic, but this is much better than a 2F 40 and a good example of how lower speeds greatly improve MPG.

You're welcome Jeff. Glad to offer some notes. Hoping to get the rear diff e-locker working again and take her out to the Lost Coast about 4.5hrs north of SF at the end of the month..

Was this an e-locker installed by the guy who badmouths ARB's?
