This is the main list I have so far of things to do before driving..

  • clean engine bay
  • fuel line
  • wire engine
  • power steering res hose
  • drain gas
  • turbo drain
  • cut holes for intercooler
  • gauge cluster
  • gauges
  • remove y in gas tank
  • install motor
  • down pipe
  • trans mount
  • shifter mount
  • buy diesel
  • Recharge AC

what am I missing?

And AC

Yes will need that, but its secondary to getting everything running.. not sure if the set up I am trying will work. I haven't seen it done before. Most include making custom hoses.

You'll have to cut out the shutter in the filler neck so the diesel nozzle will fit.

If thats remove Y in your list, then ignore and continue mission.

That is what the Remove Y is since I have a LRA tank, but I will need to enlarge the hole if I remove the LRA ... just need a buyer

I am just completing the exact same swap on my 96. You'll need to run a larger fuel line to the tank as the stock gas line is too small. You can build one yourself, but the HDJ81 factory hardlines are still available. You'll also need to remove the in tank fuel pump and put a diesel fuel pickup in - also available new. The sender on the diesel fuel pickup works with the gas cluster and stock wiring.

Put your air filter housing in when you're routing your intercooler piping. Everything is very tight and takes some adjustment/fitting. You'll need to relocate the front brake line bracket that sits just behind the radiator on the frame by the steering box on the driver side, as that's where the intercooler piping needs to go to clear under the battery box. Just disconnect it while you run the IC piping.
