I needed to have started this thread a long time ago.. this journey started months ago.

Getting lots of help and direction from Ofer and every one in the community.

Why: I have a little bubble in the my coolant system, did a test with the liquid tester and the color very slighty changes after a minute
There was also some metal in my oil filter.

So I got very worried and was talking to Ofer, he is like a drug dealer for diesels, had a solution.

Also Dave @Delta VS and Morgan @Dirty Koala keep saying its the best thing ever.

The added fuel milage, torque and a little bit of horsepower sounds like a great combo. The 1hdt should have good parts availability for longer is my understanding.

So Alberto has had a motor sitting in Texas and gathering age, and is in Unknown condition, and what is on the motor.

Aslo adding a h150 in the mix that came from Brian.

I have started a spreadsheet to try to keep track of what is still needed parts and task wise

This is how the motor arrived August 14th 2025

Some ones been here, those are not oem.

At this point I was hopeful the motor had a recent rebuild.

These head bolts look new, and there isn't that old burnt oil smell.

Heads off, followed the sequence to loosen all the bolts.

Whats that?

Oh that is disgusting

Your engine stand looks a little puny for an I6 cast iron diesel
Its held a few motors for Ofer, maybe I can add a kick stand to the far end when the head goes on.

Its a 1500lb stand...

This pistin is pretty gross, all rust from the cylinder walls.

These are not oem pistons

They are made in Australia

Some Taiho bearings, these match the rebuild kit i was going to buy.

I can't feel these surface scratches.

The plan is to run 10an fuel line frim the fuel tank to the diesel pump.

So this beauty showed up

20250828_112418.webp

This will make all swaps way easier at the tank.

@Delta VS uses this for the Cummings swap (intentional g ).

There are some improvements for the next iteration, like different fittings and such.

This old crusty one came frim Dave too, i need the plug so I can make a full drop in unit.

Also added this out to help assemble the lines.
We are at about August 28 2025

took the block to a machine shop, to take a look at the pitted cylinder and determine what will be needed.

I wasn't in a huge rush at the machine shop, after 2 weeks I asked about it. The shop said he would do it tommorrow. It was a friend if a friends place.

He did this several times.

So I went back took the block to another machinist.

Recommend by a couple of local guys, Brian Sully ( i dont know his handle ).

some passes, not done yet.

He owns a 100 series and had an 80 and wants to do more diesels.

Also Bryan.

He was super responsive and great to work with.

Locally there was Ganador exhaust system

Advertised as 3" this was cheaper then ordering one and take a lot less time.

Even though I want to do some tig welding.

This part was made here in the US by an exhaust, shop I may replace it.. but also it works.

Turns out the system is 2.75 most of the way and 3 at the end.

Should still be good, but also pretty quiet. It a Jansma approved system so it meets Japan's standards for sound is my understanding.
