As shown in the picture below. I am referring to the union bolt as banjo bolt. I think there are two on the fuel rail, I could be wrong. IIRC each of these bolts takes two of the metal washers that looks like what you have in your picture.

Getting down the home stretch here and have my first casualty! Was replacing the metal washer/gaskets on the fuel filter to this fuel rail and it twisted :bang: Here is the good part.... closest one is in Fawking JAPAN!! FAWK!

and here lies my next problem. Here is the other fuel line i am trying to install as shown in the FSM (step #3). Problem is i only have these two items left. The brass colored line i don't think is it because i can't seem to make it fit as shown. The other is this jumbled mess of spaghettii that i left together, and as is common in the FSM, it does not show where this goes! And, i don't have a picture.

Anyone want to chime in? :censor::popcorn:

Alex...call me Monday. I have a spare, IIRC. I will check tomorrow in the shop.

The jumble of stuff goes in between the two clamshells of the upper and lower intake manifolds.

Here are some pics to assist.

Beno,

Thanks, you are the man!! I'll call you Monday.

I'm having to kick this rebuild up a notch as i'm trying to purchase a home and if so i'll be moving in about 30-45 days. I have dragged this thing out long enough. Time to get er' done.

Just found that fuel line (23803B in the diagram above). It was still attached to the fuel line and inside the engine bay. Sweet!

But now i just had a huge Hickory tree fall in my backyard and take out the fence :( We had a ton of rain and then high winds. So i'm going to put the motor work down and cut a tree up.

the line in pic #2 is the coolant line that runs across the front of the engine. It plugs into the front of the throttle body and goes over to the thermostat housing. The two tabs bolt into the timing chain cover.

No it's not. That picture is of the EFI fuel system. No coolant lines there. Those are all fuel lines.

The circled line is the pic you are talking about Rick.

actually the circled line you have is a 93 or 94 as it has the vacuum line for the pair system sistered to the coolant line.

The hard line in the second picture is that same line only for a newer 1FZ-FE sans pair.

The EPC shows all variations. The circled hardline is the coolant line.

The pic with the EFI components is a fuel line.

I was able to figure out the "spaghetti incident" :D Here it is in place along with the fuel rail line I was hunting. Before i bolt the intake together, i'm going to run to the store tomorrow morning and pick up a few feet of this black hose. Might as well replace these.

The bolts holding the lines on are torqued to 14 ft'-lbs

Good call on replacing all the vacuum lines, but are they metric sizes or SAE, or does it matter?? Also while you're in there, I recall a thread or two where someone made a bracket to reposition the EGR VSV so that if it goes bad it's easier to get at.

now's the time to think about replacing the VSV for the EGR if you haven't before.

Good call. This thing is nickle and diming me to death. :D

Almost There!

Really getting down the home stretch and it's getting exciting for me again!! I can just feel it running.... knock-on-wood!

Replaced the PHH with a silicon one and constant torque clamps. Kind of spendy considering the hose plus two clamps was $21.00. I was considering taking the hard line completely out and replacing with one gently curving silicon hose all the way from the PHH location up and over the top to the heater valve. But, i figured since i have the motor out and it's super easy for now, i will keep the stock hard line in place and upgrade to a silicon hose. Hope that was the right choice and i won't have to worry about it for at least 15 years. :censor:

at first i had no clue where these two hoses went. Then with a little help from jfz80 it was determined they attach with the use of a hard line i had laying out of site/mind. :meh::hillbilly:

(i will post a pic of the hard line in a second....)

Here are some pics showing the hard line that connects the throttle body to the thermostat housing.

EDIT: or not i guess.... the board wouldn't let me do it, popped up a screen that said the 60 minute edit limit has been exceeded.

I do have this question:

Where does this hard line end go?

I'm intentionally leaving the EGR system incomplete because i am waiting to see where i can get a replacement for the damaged fuel hard line that sits just under it and attaches the fuel filter to the fuel rail inlet.

But in the mean time i need to find out where that hard line goes?

Also, it's an observation that i may have to take the entire top intake/throttle body off..... again..... to plug the fuel injectors into the wiring harness? That's gonna' suck. :bang::wrench:

Possibly an "S" shaped hose that snakes around and attaches to the block? I think it's called the No. 1 Water Bypass hose. We had most everything bolted up and we had a rough time getting it plugged into the block. And my engine was still firmly planted in the engine bay so you should have no trouble getting it hooked up. Must be nice having the engine out...

Also, this thread has been great to follow. You're doing awesome work and I am supremely jealous! Can't wait for you to fire it up!

Thanks to two local club members, i was able to track down the missing two parts i needed to complete the motor. Thanks again guys!!

Out with the old and broke, and in with the ..... not broke :D
