I absolutely love the intercooler. Rob took an off the shelf intercooler and modified it to be just extremely efficient at cooling. He also added the external tank which houses about one more gallon of fluid and changed the pump to the Bosch pump. His welds are superb!! No matter what I do, I can not get it over 1020 fahrenheit. Cruising down the highway at 75mph I don't see temps higher than 650 Fahrenheit. Rob really knows what he is doing!!! One of the best in the business.
Good to hear! My setup will be a little different but I’m hoping for similar results. Let me know if head back down to his shop.

I read a lot of build threads on Mud. There are some really talented people on this forum who do amazing work and maintain some awesome threads - with tons of details. I’m just not one of those guys! The best I can manage is small updates of what’s happens to my truck along the way.

Not much has happened this week. But today I realized it’s been a long time since I’ve had these trucks under the same roof. They seem to stay engaged in a perpetual game of musical vehicles, alternating between my garage, the warehouse and Rob’s shop. Things definitely feel right in the world now.

So....I did this thing today......

These are the seats I just purchased and installed in my HZJ75. However, I’ve decided it’s time for that rig to find a new home and - since I’m putting that truck for sale - it would be best if those seats found their way into this rig. I had planned on buying a set anyways so win-win.

These are the Vario XXL seats. They sit about 3 inches taller than the standard Scheel-Mann seats. I was originally worried they would be too tall but I think they actually fit pretty nicely. They are a definite improvement over the stock seats. Also, tall guys will love these seats because you pick up a LOT of extra leg room if necessary.

Since you obviously don't mind spending money for great mods.... do a proper retrofit.. even in low beam you are blinding other drivers. TRS shows a nice cutoff for the 2Stroke but failed to tell you they installed it in a projector to achieve that shot but do mention
the projector in the comparison video on You Tube .... it's compelling and sells lights.
The Morimoto Mini H1 is a great projector and a pretty a straight forward retrofit. Morimoto D2S does require adjusting the attachment point for clearance but you'll have amazing head lights. I've had the Mini H1's in my 80 for five years and loved them and i'm just finishing a new quad setup with the D2S and a smaller projector. Your build which is amazing deserves amazing lights.

Lights are definitely on my list of things to address in the near future. The 80 is not driven much at all and never at night so no issues with blinding people. I have been trying to find someone I can just send the lights to for the retrofit but have not had much luck.

I got from a guy on eBay Australia. You can still get the standard Turbo stickers for 1HDT models. But the “multi-valve” versions for the 1HDFT are long gone I believe.
Luckily, I'm only running the "brown bag" 1HDT!

Check with Caesar who owns Lightwerkz in NJ....there's not much he can't do and I have found he's quick to respond via email.. Save the link below... the last few pages will show you the modification some have done to fit the D2S 5.0 behind the glass but the Mini H1 clears without modification and still has amazing light output. Here's a few pictures of the Mini H1 output.. every shot is low beam output. My specialty is the LX470 but if you have any questions or I can help in anyway don't hesitate to call

My drivers side door handle looked awful and has bothered me since I bought the truck. Finally broke down and bought me a new OEM handle painted to match. Pretty easy job after reading a few threads on Mud. Huge improvement.

Hang on to the original. One day to may want it.

It is interesting to note that the mirrors and door handles on these ae not clear-coated, they are a single stage finish. I had a NAPA paint store mix me up a single-stage spray pack in 6M1 and I repainted my handles about 4 years ago. They still look good.

I had to re-install the drivers door handle from post 114. There is a bushing that goes between the handle and the door lock. I discovered it on the ground after I had replaced everything and put the door panel back together. This project is much easier the second time around. Good thing because my other 80 Series is scheduled to arrive tomorrow and it also needs this repair.
