Some news.. Radiator is expected to ship out monday...

Refresh my memory again pls; this new radiator is going in because the oem is inadequate for the larger engine?

The stock radiator supports sufficient cooling for the v8. Choosing an aftermarket option was a new route to try out. When it comes to aftermarket radiator options we all know there isn't much. I am anxious to see the final product.

Your telling me lol!

Well the Steel Nutz radiator was still not up to par for this build, it has been scratched and Ron Davis out of Phoenix will be putting one together for us. I need to get a tig welder and start making some radiators I guess. SO 6 weeks out on the radiator. More updates they come in.

Ron Davis makes great stuff but they don't seem rushed to put together an 80 radiator. I was going to use them for mine, initial quote was 2-3 weeks, then 4-6 weeks and then at least 8 weeks so I had to cancel my order and just went with OEM. I would bet the cooling difference is only 10-15% more with the Ron Davis, you're paying for solid aluminum even though the OEM plastic tanks usually last 15 years. :) Not dissuading from RD, just saying if you are in a rush, be ready to wait. lol.

Well decided not to use the RD radiator setup and just use a stock copper radiator with dual 13" Spal fans. Waiting on new isolators and hardware and I will wrap this swap up!

Hmmm finally listened to me about the rad, now if you could just stop with the V8 nonesense, and do the turbo ;)
Hahahaha yeah no.... Unfortunately I wont be doing any of that turbo stuff unless it's on an LS motor or on a Cummins :)

radiator/fan assembly installed with new isolators and hardware. To control the fans we are using a variable speed fan controller from Flexlite. Pretty sweet setup it adjusts fan speed from 60-100% depending in set temp. Also it has an ac option to kick the fans on if the car hasn't reached operating fan temps. For h20 crossings a manual override off toggle was added well.

Should have her at the exhaust shop Monday or Tuesday.

Fired it up today on first 2 cranks. Runs awesome with open headers. Vac'd ac system and touched up odds and ends. Off to exhaust shop it goes Tuesday. Owner wants quiet with a little bit of rumble, no Smokey and the Bandit rumble to give the mid life crisis example. So maybe a 20-24" Magnaflo. Pics of exhaust work to come!

Yes it is a pretty sweet ride.

Yeah I can take a quick vid of that!
