I am still looking for someone to agree to fair value. The classic car insurance through Erie was less than 12000 miles a year and cant drive it off road, even beach would void insurance.
That could be an issue because as many will tell you, I'm a die hard off-road kinda guy. The more challenging the trail, the better.

INSURING A 25 YEAR OLD LAND CRUISER.

Unlike all of the other Land Cruisers I have owned, the HZJ77 has been more of a challenge to insure.
My HJ75 has a "Known Value" policy which to a laymen would mean State Farm and I agree on the value of the truck in the event it is destroyed in a wreck. Here however is some of the fine print......

Whereas a regular private passenger rate it would be at the discretion of a claims handler if something were to happen.
Although I supplied an appraisal letter and numerous photos ..... The value is still at the discretion of State Farm.

Now for the HZJ77 .........
I chose to go the "Antique and Collector Model Policy" route....... This policy is made especially for antiques and collector models and while it is more of a pain to deal with, the value is locked in stone and usually at a much lower rate than the regular policies.

Reading this got me wondering about what I thought was my Agreed Value policy with Liberty Mutual... turns out that claims would still be subject to adjuster review, despite the appraisal I paid for and submitted (and which boosted my annual premium). Have been getting the email run-around from them.

Curious to know what other people have for insurance on their cruisers. The antique type is not an option for me, since I doubt they'd cover 3-month off-road trips to Alaska.

Right now is self insured past what the regular Erie would give. Id like to have an option as well.

I have an "Agreed Value Policy" with Auto-Owners. It is a standard policy with the truck listed as a pleasure vehicle (not my primary transportation). No mileage restrictions or other restrictions on use other than using it as my primary transportation). If it is totaled, the payout would be the Agreed Value plus the ACV of any accessories I added after I purchased it.

Damn - no CA coverage.

In the grand scheme of things, it's fairly small, yet important. :)
Thanks.... Onur

Clint, I probably won't post any significant photos until the project is complete and the Cruiser is in my driveway. Hopefully that day will arrive in the next 2-3 weeks. :)
Parts (mostly small stuff) are still arriving on a daily basis and are slowing the project somewhat.

My apologies for being a part of the bottle neck of parts procurement. My mother promises she will get your parts out as soon as they get here into the US.

Actually the parts I've ordered from you are not even remotely the issue. Most of the backorders involve lighting components and interior do-dads. Tell your dear mom to relax. :)

I have American collectors insurance on my 45. It has the same restrictions Dan mentioned, but if tree falls on the garage, it at least covers real value plus spare parts. It's around $150/yr

A fresh delivery of Terrain Tamer goodies to the shop ...... The rear springs on the 77 Series are quite long.
Thanks..... Ward
