Grabbing a beer before wrestling it back in.

Here where I stopped for tonight. All bolted in. Only thing tomorrow to do is fill the tcase and hookup the drivelines, put the skid plate and hood on then test drive.

I should have been done but ran into a couple of small brain farts.

#1 - tcase High/Low shifter. I forgot how to do that when putting it back together. I didn’t see the notch on the bottom of the selector. That took awhile. Then I figured it out, put it back together and the fork was off…I had just put most of it back, had to pull the back case and 1 more try and got it. That took about an hourish. Lack of sleep…

#2 forgot to replace rear output seal, but caught it before torqueing it down. More sealant mess….only about 30 mins of mistake.

#3 took about 30 mins to stab it in. Not bad with the tools I have, but man would a lift make a world of difference.

#4 man I’m sore 😂

I could tell you were going to have issues from the get-go. No true craftsman, starts a project with just one beer. 😊

Success

At first it wouldn’t go into 5th. I was freaking out a little for a few shifts. Pulled over wouldn’t go in still. I was having stress flashbacks…why didn’t I drink more beers during the install!

Finally went into 5th and has shifted perfect ever since. Thanks @orangefj45 it works great.

There will come a time in your life when you will look back, and realize the Gun Runner guy gave great advice. 😁

I can neither confirm nor deny that ever occurred. 😁

I saw a post where @FJ73Texas was talking about not using the Koito harness so his bright light indicator worked.
I decided to try and go back to factory wiring and bypass the relay setup.

Not good on mine. Much dimmer and rpm brightness dependant. On the plus side my bright indicator worked!

I know @CruiserTrash was thinking of making a load box for the 70 series like he does for the 60 series at some point…hint hint…nudge nudge

Took the eurovan up to the mountains last weekend.

If you peek through the trees you will find some fun history here…

That would be the Stanley Hotel in Estes Park. Redrum!

For those that might not know…

The Stanley Hotel is a 140-room Colonial Revival hotel in Estes Park, Colorado, United States, about five miles from the entrance to Rocky Mountain National Park. It was built by Freelan Oscar Stanley, co-founder of the Stanley Motor Carriage Company, and opened on July 4, 1909, as a resort for upper-classEasterners and a health retreat for sufferers of pulmonary tuberculosis.

Said to be one of the most haunted hotels in the US. Lots of history here.

You can stay in all the haunted rooms, have ghost tours, all sorts of fun.

The BJ74 was unimpressed.

@FJBen Totally forgot about that … and it’s not a load box dammit! 🤣 my goal isn’t to convert massive amounts of current into heat, it’s simply to make the magical blue light on the dash work.

Speaking of which, do you have the wiring diagram for your truck? I’d love to stare at it for a bit.

I went out to my cruiser in the driveway, turned it on along with the lights to check again to see if my lights are "rpm dependant" but I am not seeing the same symptoms. I am not sure why it happens to you. I know some people have to use that harness though depending on their application requirements.

Sorry...double post. Don't know how to delete this one.

You are 24v right?

Load box, resistor box, magic smoke box whatever 😂

Like I said, ain’t none of those! Not even a single resistor in my magic box haha.

Anyway, this looks straightforward. Let’s whip up a prototype and hand it off to you for testing shall we? Give me … I dunno, a couple weeks.

Yeah 24V here. Sorry I didn’t see the question earlier Ben.

Yeah I think 24v is a pretty good setup. Starting especially. I’m not a rocket surgeon but pretty sure it makes a big difference overall for electronics, just not a lot in the US made for it.

Hello,

Big tech, small details.

You are the only one to ever notice it, but it is satisfying anyway.

Juan

I agree sir! It really has been bugging me but I always forget about it. Easy to get distracted when everyone is cutting the tops off their troopies and I’m like watch me put a $5.00 piece of rubber on my winch with a screwdriver 😂
