This green 40 was in for some new belts and a 5 speed
She's got a v8 under the hood I think

Oh, and the tan 40 a few posts back is running a Chevy V8 as well

Got the head, distributor, and side cover off! (Getting the last 4 nuts and bolts off of the side cover took about half an hour. Had to go just a little bit at a time with an open end wrench.)

Did some work on a BRONCO today!
(I didn't think we let fords in to Mudrak.....)
This bronco was awesome. Full resto and off-body

I updated the coolant system and replaced a leaking radiator.

Hey I know it's a cruiser board and all but, gotta have a little love for another fine ride in many respects. Wheeled my way through 4 of them back in the day. First vehicle I owned was a 67 with plywood for floorboards and 300 horses of 351 Cleveland hooked to that ridiculous 3 on the tree. Built way stronger than any heep ever was though. Had one at our shop recently as well. ..

Below average resto on a 69. But fun to reminisce over. I'm 100% converted to the Cruiser way now, but fun to compare and imagine doing a hybrid. Haha

Gentlemen. The ball is rolling. Engine is in transit, and the swap is scheduled to begin in T-17 days!!!!

More pictures to come as well as a video of the engine running!

Soon.... she shall be MINE

More videos to come

Driveshaft and Vent work!!!!!

Ok guys, so I crawled under the cruiser to see how things were doing, and didnt like what I saw. My front driveshaft was looking like THIS -->

Rusty spots, and lots of flaking paint. I think it got repainted incorrectly when the 5 speed went in. By best guess is that the paint wasnt heat resistant enough, and it bubbled and flaked after being so close to the hot engine. Regardless, it needed to be fixed.
I used a pneumatic buffer and quickly took almost all the old paint off

Then I masked off the suspension and oil pan, and hit the drive shaft with some industrial, semi-gloss heat resistant paint.
I think it turned out great and the shaft looks new!

(sorry in advance for the crappy picture)

I also got a chance to finally re-paint my flaking rear vents.

Before=

Then I bead blasted them ever so slightly to take the remaining black paint off. Primed them, and painted them.
I also painted the screws... all in the little touches

After=

Gave er a wash and a wax today!!! Looks awesome (the pictures dont do it justice)

Also wanted to throw in a better picture of the repainted driveshaft

I thought Id grab a picture of the the grill after the blast and paint.
I can safely say these are the two baddest rigs in the lot (in my humble opinion). Shout out to the MUD member that owns this amazing 80 and its trailer! That thing is really awesome. I dont know your name on here.... but with all the Ih8mud stickers all over it.... im sure someone will know whos truck this is.

Hey guys, is there a way I can edit my first post in this thread? I want to put a directory at the top of my first post so people can more easily navigate the thread, especially once my diesel swap starts.
I looked around in the help section, but found that "I should be able to edit".
Iv done it before on my diesel thread, but here there isnt an "edit" button.

Anyone got any ideas????

I thought I'd put up a "whats next" list for the cruiser. Right now I have a small list I want to get done over the summer.

-12HT swap
-Finish fabbing sliders!
-Re-tint rear windows and rear windshield with darker tint
-Dynamat as much of the interior as possible
- Pull carpet, wash and vacuum
- Pull out side panels in rear, dynamat walls, and maybe build custom compartments
- Run wiring for LED work lights over rear tail gate
- Wire and install flush mount LED work light in rear and over tail gate.
- Possibly acquire and install rear sliding windows
- Fabricate front bumper (likely a spinoff of a 4+), and/or modify/rebuild rear bumper for swing outs and shackles
- Fix up window cranks and door locks (they're sticky and clunky)
- Install a CB radio
- Install lockers

Thats more of a "grand scheme" list...... Summer will probably be limited to the diesel, sliders, the dynamat, and the tint.

Looking forward to the end of school!

Sound Deadening!!!!

Woohoo gettin the list rollin!

So I started the day with the intention of finally wiring up my front fog lights. I was going to have my friends Chris, Phillip and Eli over to help me with the wiring and cleaning up the rig. Chris stopped by NAPA to pick up a relay and some wiring gear, so phillip and I started cleaning up the cargo area.

Long story short, by the time Chris came over to do the wiring, we had the side panels off, the carpet peeled back, the wire brush out, and had decided to sound deaden the rear!!!

Removing the side panels and speakers:

After peeling back the thick sound mat, we had to cut cut away what was still glued to the metal. Once the chunks were cut off, we wire brushed it all down to the adhesive and painted metal.

What was left after the mat and carpet were removed:

We took the truck down to the 76 station and payed for the vacuum. In five minutes the whole truck was vacuumed out and we headed back to put in the deadener.

Then came the simple green, and denatured alchohol:

After everything was scrubbed down as best we could get it, we started measuring, cutting, and installing the deadener.
I cant remember the name of the product off the top of my head but ill post it bellow tomorrow.

Installing the deadener:

Final Product!!!!!!!

Let me say that your rig is one of the cleanest red 60 i have laid my eyes on,that 80 series next to you is a friend of mine he goes by Haring Bagsik here on mud i think he was there for his light bar install and some other stuff.Yeah that 80 is clean and well cared for he just purchased that trailer recently.

I envy your rig for getting all this nice upgrade man,i have a ton of stuff in the garage waiting to be installed by i always end up working on other people's rig before mine.:(

Love them pictures!!! That was when I got the 80 re-geared to 4:88's, installed the sliders, awning, skid plate....etc....etc....Love that 60 of yours!

NEW SHOCK!!!!

I got my Old Man Emu rear shock warranty'd and put in a fresh one!
The ride is noticeably smoother. I didnt think one shock would really make a difference but it did!

On another note, the diesel is scheduled to go in in 15 days
