Awesome project today! Did some rear hatch/cargo lights with Chris. I owe large amounts of beer no doubt.

Are those light from Ebay? How many did you install?
I got them from Amazon but you can get them from EBay. I bought 12 and installed 6

4 on the rear hatch, 2 inside on the rear pillars

I have 6 lights left, plus two LED strips
I'm going to do a front dome light on the mirror base, then two strips in the engine bay, then some footwell lights!

Here's a picture of my mirror setup

Love the idea of the lights on the rear hatch, I was just trying to think of a place to mount my last 4 LEDs the other day. I've got the same 12 pack from Amazon as well. Did you see the pics i posted in the "what did you do to your 60 this weekend" thread of how I mounted them for floorlights? Definitely one of my favorite additions!

Turned out great! I think I'm going to copy you and put my last 4 in the back like that. Do you think I should put all 4 in the rear hatch or do 2 in the rear hatch and then 2 on the rear pillars like you have?

Damn those things are bright. I have the same 12pk saved in my wishlist to grab one day. Do you know how bright just one is? I don't want a huge amount of light in the back so I would probably only mount three in the cargo area and then find other places to mount the rest.

I think the 4 in the rear are MORE than adequate. You could get away with 3 or even 2 on the rear hatch.

The inner pillar setup is AWESOME. Its almost my favorite part. It takes some doing, and youll need some pretty decent wiring knowhow. But I quite like the pillar mounts. They shed a lot of light without putting it straight in your eyes.

Basically, I wired all the hatch lights into segments so that I can disconnect segments (incase they are too bright etc), or if I want to drop those rear cover plates and not have it strung together and permanently fixed. Make sure you make the segments detachable otherwise youll regret it if you have to do work in that rear hatch.

I dont know how bright they are in a measurable way. But. If you look straight at one of them, its like a miniature sun. For real. Those suckers are SUPER bright in total darkness. For their size they throw a ton of light. I think that 4 is plenty for my needs, but you could get away with 2. 1 might be a bit dim for the hatch.

Basically, they are crazy bright if you look at them, but when you see the spread of light its not harsh or anything. Just put them somewhere where they arent staring you straight in the face, or diffuse them somehow.

Wow those lights look killer! Wonder who stayed up till midnight finishing them! Haha

And I don't have a cruiser, but I do drive a first gen 87 4runner sr5...

Ah! Yes! Custom Chris. This is the guy who's always helping me out. And whom I owe mountains of beer and favors.

Cool tip!

So I was looking for some rocker switches to activate some lights and such on my rig. I found these. They fit absolutely PERFECT in the empty spares in a 60 or 62. Just pop out the plastic place holder, pop these in. Nice and snug, no shakes. Problem is, they arent QUITE wide enough. They are super close but theres a little gap on either side. But still. Damn close.

Did another wiring/lighting project today.

I put two 6 inch led strips under the hood with a switch in the engine bay so I can see what Im doing when I tinker in the evenings or when I have a problem at night.

Its a pretty straightforward setup, but gosh is it a great mod for 15$.

I was just going to ask how you are powering all these lights...then saw your dual batteries and accessory power strip...oh and your holy grail of motors stuffed in there. Nice!

I need to run an accessory fuse box/power strip...never know where to tap in to get power and don't like splicing factory wires.

So where are you routing the wires all the way to the back of the vehicle?

How will the lights stand up to the engine heat?
