Did you check the alt. brushes? They are fairly easy to check and easy/cheap to replace - can be checked/replaced without removing the alt. You can get the brushes for $5 from most local auto parts stores.

Thanks for the tip. That is the top of my "to-do" list on Monday. Well actually that is second on the list.....after my daily "honey do" list.:)

that is so nice of you to look out for your buddies ...

but

should you change your mind i would even come down to take it off your hands ... for free.

Your willingness to help me in my time of need is why you are my buddy.:) I assume you would drive down in one of those fancy
HZJ77's?:D

nah, i would bring the Ford with the float, after all with the luck you are having with that puppy better safe than stranded.

OUCH...:) If I were to sell it you would be able to say "I told you so" and I couldn't live with that.:D I will just continue working on it while I convince my kids that a college education is really over rated.

tidak apa apa (no problem) I doubt that translates literally on google.

wong... how close is the Malaysian language to the Indonesian language?

If its a toyota/denso alternator have it rebuild. The ones from a parts store are a craps shoot. The quality is usually never there.

Please don't question me on Malay, I didn't have my education in Malaysia. Singapore was my learning ground since 1985( same year as HJ75). :D
Whatever written in Malay on the thread, I don't really quite understand.

Hopefully the shop can shed some light on which direction to go. The only problem with having it rebuilt is the down-time. ( 2-3 weeks
turn-time). My neighbors already think my Cruiser is a "static display" because it sets more than it drives.:) It might be more prudent to just install a new or re-built unit.

On man! 2-3 weeks time to rebuild.:eek: I had my alternator work out less than a day.:steer:
I'm wondering why are they taking vacation time on rebuilding an alternator??

Unfortunately the only alternator shop in town seems to have more work than they do technicians to do the work and therefore stay backlogged all of the time.

We all had good intentions......English it is ( or at least my version of it.:))

I may be in singapore in march/april. How far are you from there?

Charles, I see you have ac that alternator is fun to pull and put back in with ac :)

Your bumper is packed up and on its way tomorrow.

In Southern Georgia where the Winters are short and the Summers are long, the A/C is probably more important than the alternator. I can always charge the battery on a daily basis.:D I look forward to seeing the bumper.
Thanks.......

Does anyone have a part number for the voltage regulator on my 2H powered Cruiser. I assume the current model ( Ingram ) is after-market
Thanks....
626.webp

I don't *think* those are aftermarket, per say. Seems that AU spec cruisers got these regulators from new. At least, all the AU spec cruisers I've seen have this brand of regulator.

Before going down the voltage regulator rat hole, did you check your brushes? I've never seen or heard of one of these regulators going bad.

We will do more troubleshooting tomorrow ( today was a holiday )
however the points are sticking in the regulator ( you can hear them clicking) and there is a constant voltage draw from the regulator all of which lead us to suspect the regulator.
Thanks for the information.......
