Posting more than I know
Alberto, where are you guys getting your body and paint done? I'm searching for a good place here in Nashville. Seems that everyone here has too much money and wants $10,000 - $20,000 to do it.

View attachment 1100930 Alberto, Did that guy on the right pass himself off as some kind of parts guru to get you to buy the beer. He pulled that trick the last time we met for lunch.![]()
You know, Charles @1978HJ45, now that you mention it, the guy on the right @beno did try to pull that on us @94SRUNNER to get free beer. Luckily, we got smarter and let him pay the bill![]()
I got a quote this morning for $650 to blast the entire body at StripMaster here in town. Recommendation from a friend in the business of custom motorcycles. Pretty good price if you ask me.
Balance that with a high end paint quote for $10,000 minimum by a shop here in town called Team Witt. I'm sure they do a great job, but that's out of the price range for what I'm willing to pay someone for a paint job - especially on a truck, and especially when I've done just about everything myself on this so far. $3000 maybe, but $10K? Whew!

I felt sorry for him. He kept mumbling something about being a famous parts guy.
hummm, i see on mud a lot about paint and body prices. it seems those that shop for "cheap" get what they pay for.
sometimes a deal just isn't in the end.
you want cheap then go buy a paint gun, rent a booth or set up a tent and spray it yourself. chances are your results will be the same.

After two years in the making, we have a final version of the Angel Falls video that I wanted to share with you guys:
Hope you guys enjoy it!

Reading through your thread and discovered this gem... Had no idea you were one of the guys from this trip. I just saw the article in Trails a few months back and I'm desperate to make this trek someday. What an epically manly cruiser escapade. If you ever need to repeat that trek and have a spare seat I'll lug winch cables and replace axles everyday to have the opportunity.
Okay... I'll go back to reading your thread now.
Fantastic BJ40 project... Looking forward to seeing the rest of the build.
Another video I want to share with you guys to a trip my buddies back home did to San Juan de Manapiare (Venezuela) back in 2013 and they just put the video together. The trip was completed in three 70-series (FZJ71) and one 40-series (FJ40).
Hope you guys enjoy the video!
