Installing the heat shields on the cruiser, with new hardware. Note again, full disclosure - I reinforced the body mount locations with new steel - and while maybe not as pretty of a job, it is honest!

I was debating what to do with mine. You made the decision easy. Thank you

My brothers ‘3/76 is also going to be this color which is the way it came from the factory. On the fence between 532 in base and clear coat or all in single stage paint. I have heard touch up’s and paint correction is easier with single stage, opinions? Your work is true craft sir, thanks SO much for sharing👍 Tom

Clear coats can be buffed out if the clear coat is still intact. A clear coat is going to be better if you wheel a lot and get the finger marks that can be buffed out. It is a lot harder to really touch up single stage unless the scratches/ chips are small, and the paint has not faded or anything. I would personally always do a clearcoat.

If you want to limit the damages use ppf on the critical areas.

So what is PPF? And I am pretty sure the original finishes on these vehicles was single stage, correct? Looking excellent👍

PPF is Protective Paint Film, and I believe the finished were originally single stage.

Cool, so it is something you would put over the clear coat on say the bottom of the tub, wheels wells, etc that would still allow you to see that awesome Mustard Yellow? Thanks

Even better, it is like transparent wrap but the good stuff prevents the paint from scratching and it is (semi) self healing.
The deeper scratches in the PPF can be taken out by a heat gun.

I see. So would be tough to apply to under belly. Maybe a spray on tough coating that is Mustard Yellow for the underbelly?

I'm spraying lizard skin ceramic and a sound deadening on my underbelly and firewall. You can paint over that. I wouldn't be too worried about protecting the paint on the underside as much as the top.

Ok @dmaddox how's this thing shaping up?

Hello all, and sorry - I've been juggling a lot lately. Entire family had covid (except my wife and I, luckily), everyone - including my 96 year old grandmother recovered. Then, a new project showed up in my driveway.....on and on.

I have been working on the particulars of the motor. I have a Toyota alternator belt, new from Toyota - but I am looking for the air pump belt. Anyone have a toyota air pump belt? I can't find one.

I have the engine hooks, fan shroud I need to take and have re-zinc'd. Otherwise, I'm just plugging along.

Thank you for checking in - dallas

Wow, that’s gorgeous Dallas. Really glad you all recovered, hope you have the same genes as the 96 yr old!
