Pressed in the front output bearing w/snap-ring & shaft. New race in the holder too.

New seal and boot. That boot was a struggle to get on.

The rebuild kit came with a new idler shaft. Installed with a new o-ring and keyed thrust washer. Also a new seal on the t-case input.

If you look closely you can see I nearly forgot the little oil shield above the top gear there

Another o-ring and thrust washer on the idler shaft and the rear case is on with a few old rusty bolts until the new ones get here.

Still have to powder coat a few things but I can't stop staring at it.

I need some shims for the pre-load on the output shafts - where can I get them easily around Calgary? - Wayne - I could just make my own but my selection of shim thickness material is limited.

Stampede Toyota, talk to Dave in Parts and tell him Wayne says 'Hi'
or
John at Radd Cruisers
or
Steve at Extreme bends

thanks Wayne

Update

got the stragglers back from powder a week ago or so
P1010001.webp
got some bolts and stuff
P1010003.webp

put some new studs in the drum
P1010004.webp
I measured the slack in the shaft at about 0.030" and decided to make my own stainless shims in 0.020/0.030 and 0.036

I don't have the tool the FSM wants me to use but I get 10 Lbs of force required before the shaft turns with the t-case in 4-neutral. Anybody have an opinion about that figure?? - it doesn't feel excessively stiff

One more question....

is my backing plate bent or what? - this park brake was working good before it came off the 4spd pulled from the truck

so is the p-brake backing plate bent or is that the design? I haven't put the shoes in there yet so when I do that I guess I'll be able to see if the shoes are aligned with the drum.

for those just joining in - the drum and speedo housing came from Australia via Georg and the backing plate came from the original drive train in this 45

I'll be at the meeting tonight and you can look at mine.

I would guess that it is bent. When you put the shoes in there they will be on an angle compared to the drum.

Ok - I've been taking pictures and not posting long enough.

I took a pry bar to the park brake backing plate and bent it closer to straight. I'll pull it back some more when I get a chance.

I bought a few bits direct from a local Toyota dealer. A large "tight plug" that was missing from my top plate housing. A return spring for the clutch slave, and a boot for the clutch fork. I bought the boot from two different vendors online and got the wrong one twice so I just ordered from the dealer. Mounted the slave I bought a long time ago.

So I want to swap my 60 series 3B 450k motor in to the chassis to continue the build up while the 40 series rusty mine motor goes out for rebuild.

the left side block bracket is the same for both 40 and 60. The right side is not. Pictured here is the left side view of a 3B. From left to right you see... 60 series left bracket, 40 series left bracket and 60 series right bracket
